Good food great staff but decor could do a up grade..

The Auburn lodge hotel is a fantastic family orientated establishment. From the reception to the bar staff to breakfast, dinner and room service employees were all very helpful and good natured. The swimming pool facilities were not working on the week of our arrival through no fault of there own. But they more than made up for it with entertainment for our children. Highly recommended.

Not a great hotel` 1. No access to the pool before 12.30 on Saturday morning. 2. Had to wait for breakfast on Sunday morning even though i was trying to tell the waitress that my sister was in having breakfast and she had seats at her table for us. 3. Was trying to charge us more on check out for the room.that the price we booked for The bar Staff were lovely - Bar food lovely. However the reception staff not the best The manager did contact us about the pool

We love the location of the auburn lodge and this was our second time to stay, our room this time was quite old, the bathroom needs to be renovated, it was very old and grubby. The staff were lovely as always. We will be back but we will be requesting a better room.

I enjoyed Ennis town as a nice base to explore Co Clare. The only reason I am writing this review is that I was really impressed with the genuine warm and charming welcome and treatment from all the staff. From reception to bar and waiting staff and the pool/gym staff they were all so nice and friendly and helpful I was really surprised. I will be back to the Auburn lodge for this reason and would reccommend to a friend or family.

We have stayed in this hotel a few times and must say we love it food great and staff very friendly

by Westmeath visitors on Jan 2 2018 15:56

The hotel was pleasant and clean though the decor was a bit dated. The swimming pool was well presented but the pool itself was shallow and small. The jacuzzi was perfect and having a children's pool was a God sent. The breakfast was scrumptious except for the coffee that was absolutely horrible. All in all, we would recommend the hotel. The proximity of Ennis and the Cliffs of Moher was great. It was easy to get to Limerick yet we felt we had the best of both world with being in the countryside.

Lovely atmosphere in the hotel from start to finish. As a family with three young children, the hotel had all we required, a leisure centre, a child's club & lots of other young children to play with. The staff were most helpful, and the food was tasty. Overall a very enjoyable stay, would recommend. PS - excellent value too!

Only stayed one night at the AUBURN LODGE & LEISURE CENTRE but will definitely return . It was just lovely. The staff there it has to be said are excellent, from the girl in the restaurant to the girl in the bar, very welcoming and friendly. Had to rearrange the booking because of flu , the hotel could not have been more helpful , really really nice. Thank you so much for everything !! We appreciate it very much!

We stayed for the Patrick's Weekend and we were greatfull for the leisure facilities as it rained all weekend and couldn't get out. The hotel is clean tho' stuck in the 80's with the decor with a strange layout. There is no lift in this hotel so make sure to ask for a groundfloor room if you're not good on stairs. The food was lovely but if you like a medium rare steak ask for a medium to well done as we were given rare to blue and had to send it back. The Staff are very nice and friendly. The big problem we had was we were in a room beside a couple that were fighting...for hours. The walls are so thin it was if they were in the room with us, we could hear every word. The hotel phones were not working and the reception was a bit of a hike away.We didn't want to knock on their door as the man was drunk and verbally abusive as it was. They stopped eventually when a man from another room started banging on their door about 3.30am asking them to stop.

Staff lovely, food great, rooms dated but clean & warm, swimming pool big disappointment as it was freezing, kids only stayed in it for a short time.

by Cora on Aug 28 2016 19:59

Information incorrect on website about children's hours in the pool. When we arrived at 6.30pm we asked where the pool was and we were told that the pool was closed to children at 7pm. I had already checked this out before travelling and it says 8pm on the website. When I told the receptionist this she told me that it does not. I rechecked when I got to the room and it did say 8pm. We went for our evening meal (included) in the restaurant. We weren't offered a wine list or asked if we wanted drinks. That was ok as we weren't too bothered and yes we could have asked ourselves. The food was not great at all. Presentation was fine but I had the chicken and it was dry as a bone. My husband had salmon and it was overcooked too. We were given a password for WiFi but the WiFi didn't work. Faulty wire in bedside lamp and a socket that you couldn't plug anything into. Old style telly. Mattresses could do with updating. I did mention all to the receptionist the next morning and she checked the website for the time of the swimming and could see that it said 8pm and apologised and said she would get it changed. Overall, glad we were only there one night.

We love it ! As a short break here in Ireland, it's hard to beat. Close proximity to tourist areas, close to town, and has ample parking. The food is great, the staff are very welcoming and the leisure centre goes down a treat with our lot. We have no complaints!!! We have been before and will be back again!

by Mary Russell on Jul 30 2016 15:31

Excellent and relaxing two night stay. We ate in the Restaurant both nights and enjoyed all the food. Whilst the choice of wine is limited we were very pleased with our chosen wines and found them compatibly priced and in fact cheaper than most restaurants we have used. It is slightly out of town but plenty of parking in Ennis, reasonably priced. The staff were also very pleasant. Would have not hesitation in coming here again.

Had a great weekend. Warm, helpful staff. Child friendly. Lovely leisure centre. Tasty food. Might consider varying the menu. Would recommend it to friends. From very satisfied guests - Kildare.

Very enjoyable family break, only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was a very nice buffet & the staff were very nice. Used pool twice, again fine facilities & very nice staff. Our room was very comfortable and clean an on ground floor which was handy as we had buggy & I don't think there's a lift.

Lovely hotel, very friendly helpful staff.

by Lyn on Feb 11 2016 11:26

On arrival the lady at reception, Helena I think is her name, was very welcoming and friendly. She even offered us an upgrade on our stay which was fantastic. The room was lovely very comfortable, clean and tidy. We also visited the Spa where we had massage treatments which were very relaxing and the staff really friendly to talk to. Our meals, dinner and breakfast were both lovely, but I found the service a little disappointing. On arrival at the restaurant we were told they had no table booked for us which we had booked earlier at reception. Thankfully this was resolved as our stay included a meal. We were asked while ordering our food would we like drinks but I had to ask for a wine menu. We were also asked if we would like to wait a few minutes for our main following our starter by one of the servers but were then served anyway by someone else. The following morning for breakfast again they were busy and had no table so the lady asked us to wait in the lobby. During our wait I saw several guests coming and going and the lady never came to inform us there were tables. My partner had to go back up and ask had something come available. Overall a lovely hotel and visit, just slightly disappointed with the service on a couple of occasions.

TV reception was very bad in our room.disappointed that the pool wasn't opened earlier than ten am and closed as early as six pm.but a lovely warm friendly atmosphere from the staff and the food was really lovely.

We stayed the last weekend in August on a 2 night package which included breakfast and dinner. We found the staff in all areas very friendly and professional. We loved the idea of eating dinner in the bar or restaurant. We have to say the bar food would be our first choice good menu with a choice for all. This hotel is a great base for travelling around.

by Cora o Connor on Sep 8 2015 10:51

Had a fabulous time in this hotel. The food was excellent. Staff very helpful. Room was spotless. Would definitely recommend it. And we intend to return in the near future.

by Austin on Sep 4 2015 04:46

Beautiful stay, room was lovley food was great restruant and hotel staff were fantastic. We found that on our first night the pool attendent was a bit OTT and unfriendly in approach. coming out to the pool area every couple of minutes to stop the kids jumping in the kiddies pool or splasing arond or not using the steps to get in or out. A bit OTT as there was a 6 year old and a 2 year old and both parents in the water looking after them and no one else in the kiddies pool.

Another wonderful experience for me and my two "tweenagers" at the Auburn Lodge, great facilities and really friendly staff, we will have to go back again next year as there is just so much to do in Clare!

by Jaybes on Jul 14 2015 11:09

Nice clean Hotel, with very friendly staff, and delicious evening meal. The Leisure Centre is very adequate also, which my son couldn't get enough of.

by Pat Sexton on Jun 21 2015 23:42

We stayed at the hotel for two nights in June 2015. The booking was made on the morning of our arrival. We arrived at 2 o'clock and the check-in was handled efficiently (although one of the door cards didn't work subsequently) and the room was ready for occupation. The room was clean (although we had to walk 140 yards within the building itself from the reception to the room - it helped eliminate some of the calories from the breakfasts) but the room was not overly warm particularly as the weather was not Junelike. The package included one evening meal and this was served in the bar. The menu choice was very good and the food itself was also very good (although there was a delay in having the order processed). The breakfast was very good and again it had a good selection of food. We did not use the Leisure Centre.

Hotel was warm and the room, a I had requested, was a recently refurbished one-big comfortable bed, nice bathroom and we had everything we needed, tea and coffee making facilities etc. We had hoped to use the leisure centre but didn't get around to it. The clientele in general were older in the hotel, but this didn't matter. The staff were friendly and helpful esp the breakfast staff who were most attentive. The hotel d├ęcor in general is a little tired and dated but all in all we had a pleasant stay.

by reviewer91595920 on Jan 14 2015 16:09

Food was nice. The rooms were horrible and we were literally put right at the back of the hotel. There was a horrible smell in our room when we first went in and when my 3 year old opened the wardrobe there was 2 empty boxes of Jameson and an empty box of sex toys in there. So the rooms weren't cleaned properly at all. The swimming pool was lovely and warm but the changing rooms were dirty. In fact, when I checked out I felt like we all needed a good scrub after staying there. Would never go back.

A very dated hotel. Decor seriously needs some updating. Leisure centre excellent but no toys in the pool or the hotel for children. Not a family friendly hotel. More suited to older people. Staff friendly and helpfull. Food was lively and very generous portions. Location is excellent for touring around the counties and loads to see on Clare. But if I went again I'd stay somewhere else.

by mir on Jul 29 2014 11:09

Our original room we got was very dated and plain but we got moved to newer room and it was lovely only bed very small. Towels changed every day which was great. Food in bar good but not as much a selection off food in restaurant.staff were okay apart from. Mairead and enya they lovely and very helpful. The drink at bar wasn't the greatest at all. But overall we enjoyed our stay and will visit Co Clare again..

Booking very easy to use. Had been before and were looking forward to going back. Everyone very helpful and nothing was a problem. Lovely atmosphere. My husband said the bed was one of the most comfortable he had been in, had a great sleep! Loved the spacious double room as were given. Food was grand, only disappointment was the tea/coffee wasn't offered after dinner ( and I didn't like to ask). Great to have playroom always open for toddlers use. Excellent supervision at the pool. Will be back in the future! Definitely good value for money. Many thanks for a relaxing break

i was disappointed with hotel , pretty outdated and food not great , friendliness and helpfulness of a lot of staff members would not entice me to return .

Had a very pleasant 2 night stay in the Auburn Lodge. The staff in this hotel are extremely pleasant and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was very good and the breakfast was as good, although it would be nice to have some fresh fruit. The rooms are spotless and lovely clean white towels.Would have no hesitation in staying here again.

by Martina McCarthy on Jul 1 2014 10:26

I could not find a single fault with this Hotel. All the staff were nicer than each other . The food was wonderful. Even the bacon for the breakfast was unique. I never tasted nicer. The bar was wonderful with free entertainment provided. We had a wonderful dinner on the evening we arrived. My husband asked if he could get plain chicken instead of chicken curry and it was no problem. By far the nicest hotel I ever stayed in

by reviewer16755144 on Jun 30 2014 15:58

Stayed here over the week end. Staff were all very friendly and helpful....I asked for an iron and it was delivered within minutes as was the fan that I also requested. Room was clean and comfortable although the only gripe I had was the distance from reception, restaurants and bar to the bedroom. it was a long hike! Food in both the bar and restaurant was lovely and was served quickly. I was a little disappointed in the breakfast fried egg, beans or mushrooms. Entertainment on both nights in bar.

by Jackr on Jun 30 2014 15:32

Room only OK sheets stained.Keys would not work despite changing them twice.Seemed to be a lot of staff but none of them willing ti ask if we needed anything while sitting in the foyer for over an hour. And lastly at breakfast the plates on the warmer were Burning hot and dangerous.I know in all deals kids go free but in 4 years and 6 or 7 stays in various hotels we have NEVER been charged for Kids breakfast.which was a slice of toast each and a 10euro charge. NEVER AGAIN...ANONYMOUS
