This is a great location to visit dublin, to enjoy howth, to just enjoy a fine breakfast, it would deserve a 3.75 out of 5. Rooms were lovely and big. Good for a couple to just child or couple with one child. The leisure centre/swimming pool is perfect , that would be enough of a reason to good back - its an excellent facility and would appeal to many. The panini's from the bar menu are really good too. View from bar and front rooms and front door breathtaking.Personnally i would recommend to some of our friends and this is the highest compliment i can pay this hotel. Chris k

Great location, views of the golf course & sea, courtesy bus to Howth is very good idea. The rooms good but bathroom not cleaned properly. The decor was very dated (80's) and tired, reception, bar and particullarly the breakfast room would benefit from a complete make-over. Unfortunately it's major failling point was the breakfast itself. Went for breakfast at 9.15qm, the serving staff were very unprofessional, everything was cold and the scrambeled egg was what I could only describe as a disgusting, undercooked mess. The chef / cook who produces such fare certainly can't be up to much as the food represents both the hotel and themselves. I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

Although the hotel itself was very quiet and the rooms quite dated. They were clean and comfortable. I can not speak highly enough of the staff though, they were all extremely friendly and helpful. Particularly the girl who was working at reception on the Sunday morning (I can't remember her name sorry!) Unfortuately we had asked the night porter on the sat night to arrange for us to have our breakfast brought to our room but this message was not passed on to the kitchen which meant we then missed breakfast. When checking out we explained this to the lady at reception who was very apologetic and arranged for the kitchen to make us up some lunch instead. Having the shuttle bus up and down to Howth village was also very handy.

We stayed one night, myself,my partner & our 9 month old daughter. The hotel is in a fabulous setting and location. Howth village is only a short spin away in the car or complimentary shuttle bus which is a great idea. The breakfast was delicious. Just what you need in the morning. Rooms were very clean and the view of the city and water were beautiful. The Spa and Pool get 10/10. Very relaxing. Only negative is if you've young kids buggies etc ask for a 1st floor room. Not buggy friendly but otherwise I give 9/10. Next time, and there will be,I'll be bringing my clubs for a round of golf. Great hotel and highly recommended.

Very pleasant stay. The location of the hotel is beautiful and as the weather was fabulous we sat outside and enjoyed the spectacular views. The hotel itself was rather tired and would need a little tlc, however the rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate in the bar on the Friday night and the food was excellent, as was the service provided by the bar staff. We didn't have breakfast (late nights) but we were offered complimentary coffe/tea and a bacon sandwich which was very satisfactory. We were disappointed our room was at the back of the hotel (no scenic views) and it smelled of smoke, as it was near the wood burner, so we were only able to open the window at certain times to avoid the room filling up with smoke (not good)!! The shuttle bus is a great idea and we were given a tour of Howth, which is a wonderful seaside village. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the deal we had was extemely good value, so we would return and hope to get a front facing bedroom!

Beautiful setting, had a lovely 2 day break here. Bar food very tasty, friendly service. Bedroom decor a bit outdated but lovely large bathroom in the family room. Wonderful views over the golf course down to the sea. Would love to stay here when it snows! Free shuttle bus to and from Howth village was available at a moment's notice - great service. Will definitely come again.

My family and I stayed at the Deer Park over the August Bank Holiday weekend and overall it was a very pleasant stay. The staff were extremely friendly and the bedrooms were spacious with large bathrooms - the showers however was disappointing. The shuttle bus into and out of Howth is a great idea as it is a very long walk up the driveway and the driver (Clever) was really friendly. I would gladly recommend the Deer Park to a friend as in overall terms it is a great location with lovely rooms and very friendly staff. The swimming pool is a plus and it was very good value for money.

We had a wonderful stay at the Deer Park this past weekend. The hotel itself is fairly standard, perhaps a little on the tired side, but still lovely overall. The views and setting though set it out above other hotels. Absolutely stunning! The golf course looks great (we're not golfers) and the pool area was very nice. Although felt like it could do with a bit of TLC. The bus into Howth is a fabulous idea, and the food was very good. Downsides? The bar prices were astonishingly high (€18.40 for a V&T and a Scotch and soda??). That's it really! We will definitely recommend it to friends and family, and will hopefully be back soon!

To whom it concerns, Recently my husband and I booked the Deer Park hotel in Howth for an overnight stay with dinner, bed/breakfast. On arriving the reception desk gave us an invoice with the wrong amount but assured us it would be corrected and gave us the key to our room. The room itself was pleasant enough but the desk drawers had no handles and one had to go underneath to push it out. There were tea and coffee facilities but no hairdryer and when we went to plug in the television there was no socket to accommodate. when we called reception they sent a porter who thought he was on candid camera and was completely disbelieving that there was no where to plug in the television. that problem was duly sorted with the aid of an extension lead. Dinner was basic but pleasant enough probobaly due to the fact the waitress was very pleasant. We were alone in the dining room. Not so the following morning, the dining room was full and we were informed there was no room and would we sit outside. We did but had to go looking for cutlery, milk, butter etc. The ban maries were empty and when we asked we were assured they would be filled but due to the amount of people no sooner was food replaced it was empty again and so we ended up with no breakfast. To be honest the scrambled egg that was available looked like grey gloop and was very offputting. On check out we were given an invoice twice the price of the agreed deal and it took three attempts for the receptionist to get it right. Very dissappointing all round and wouldn't reccommend and wont be going back

Great location and ideal for getting away. Staff are fantastic and the rooms spotless. The girl at reception was fantastic to us and gave us sea view rooms which where a beautiful sight .The hotel needs a revamp as everything is outdated. The food we ordered was the house burger which was reasonable in price and when it came it was little bit pink for me ad the rest of us. Overall enjoyed our get away.

We stayed for two night midweek at the Deer Park Hotel. The hotel is in a beautiful location with a beautiful view. The staff at the hotel were very pleasant and accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The hotel is a fantastic base for exploring both Howth and Dublin. There is a complimentary minibus which will bring you to Howth Dart Station or Howth village and will also come and collect you on request which was brilliant. The hotel is a nice distance from the main road so the parking is secure. There are beautiful walks around the hotel and a golf course too. There is a 17 metre swimming pool with sauna and steam room in the hotel. There is also a small gym adjoining this. This facility was across the hall from our room which was very convenient. The room was very nice with a double bed with a very comfortable mattress and a single bed also. The ensuite bathroom was larger in size than other hotels we have stayed at. There was a fridge in the room which was very useful. The furniture of the room is a bit dated, the tv was not flat-screen but we didnt turn it on anyway so it didnt matter. There was one socket in the room which was the modern type the rest were an older style but we only occasionally used it to charge a phone or laptop. There was free wifi in the room but it was not reliable. this may have been because our room was at the very end of the hotel, we would bring our laptop to the reception each night to use the internet there which suited fine. The breakfast at hotel was a buffet style, the food was very nice and the waiters were extremely helpful and pleasant. We ate dinner at the hotel on our first night, the food was nice and the waitress was very pleasant and helpful. It was an excellent choice of hotel for our stay in Dublin and we will be back there again in the future. It is easy to get there by car from the airport or using the Dart with the complimentary bus service.

Cannot recommend The Deer Park Hotel enough!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the hotel staff were so obliging and friendly. The family room was just the size we needed for us and two children - plenty of room. Breakfast was fantastic and we were lucky enough to eat outside as the weather was so beautiful - check out the breathtaking views! A hidden gem of a hotel. We'll be back!!

Paul scored 3 / 5 on 27/05/2013

We were on an overnight break with friends. I picked the hotel for it's location and that did not disappoint - the grounds and the views are spectacular. We can't comment on the leisure area or the spa as the weather was amazing so we spent the two days out walking. The rooms, though a bit worn, were very clean and comfortable. The shower was dreadful - no water pressure at all - but for one night a bath was fine. The shuttle bus to the village was a nice touch. The reception staff and the shuttle bus driver were very friendly and efficient. We missed breakfast as we stayed up very late so had lunch later. The food was OK, the coffee was awful and the service was hit and miss - I think the staff were in a worse state than us! However, we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return if we could ensure that we got a room with a shower that worked.

Nice cheap break - Good points - Absolutely stunning location, Swimming Pool and Gym good but could do with an overhaul, Free bus to Howth a nice touch, Big Room, let us check in early, Staff Nice and pleasant Bad Points - Brekafast was not good at all - Cold and no real choice - Coffee terrible, No atmosphere in Bar, Television out of the Ark (website states Plasma in Family Room, Shower was a complete joke. All in all a good cheap break away for a night but wouldn't want to do two!

Fabulous location and amazing views. The hotel is very comfortable and staff are very helpful and friendly. The leisure facilities are very good, unfortunately I did not have time to avail of dp Spa so I cannot comment on it. We went for the €49 option which included a 2 course meal for two, unfortunately the variety on the menu was not to our taste, so we chose to eat from the al a carte menu, which meant paying a bit extra. The Hotel itself could do with a make over, the interior is a bit dated, but all in all for the price we paid we were very happy with our stay.

I stayed here with my Mam and my two children (10 and 9) and we had a really lovely weekend. It was my daughter's birthday and the staff had very kindly left a card for her and a basket of chocolate treats. The staff at the hotel are really lovely, particularly the guy who drives the shuttle bus, the bar staff and the bar manager. Hotel reception staff were very helpful. We had a very big room which was very comfortable to stay in, given that four people were sharing. The views from the hotel are stunning and there's a really lovely atmosphere in the village itself. Well worth a visit and we will definitely stay there again. I have already recommended it to a friend of mine, also travelling with children. The only downsides for me were the pool was a little too cold for me, but I was the only one who felt it and the food, while good, wasn't lip smacking. The breakfast was lovely, I just found the dinner to be a little lacking. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

We arrrived to the Deer Park at 2pm but our room was not ready, not a problen as check in was not until 3pm. The staff were friendly and courtious, they pre checked us in so all we had to do was collect the keys later on. We headed into the Bar /Lounge to watch the Ireland match and there was a good atmosphere and the food coming out of the kitchen looked like great quality, we ordered a few nibbles, and they were arriced in no time. The bar man was fast efficient and was still able to have the craic with the regluar at the bar creating a great atmosphere. The only downside was the two families with small children, which I have no issue with but the children were contactly going in and out of the emergency exit door and leaving it wide open and then the warm bar became an ice cavern. We left after the match and I know that another couple beside us also left for this reason. We then checked into our room which was lovely, clean with a fantastic view, located right by the Hotels pool and spa, very handy for access. The only thing I would say was the TV needed a bit of updating and didnlt have any movie channels just the basics. The Hotel offeres a great service of a Mini bus down to the beauiful and picturesque village of Howth, and that's where we headed, Clever was our driver and he gave us a min tour of Howth taking us up to the Summit to see the specatucular views. He dropped us down the town for a few hours and then collected us after the match which was great. Dinner in the restaurant was nice, the surrounding were cosy and the menu was great value for money, I had the most deliciously flakey piece of Cod. The only thing I would say is the staff did not offer us to pay a supplement for the a la carte menu instead of the inclusive menu. The next morning we headed for Breakfast, which again as we were on a package it was great value for money, but there was no effort in the presentation, the staff did not give us any information on the buffet. Just a bit of guidance required there. It seemed a bit lack lustre, but again tasted fine, but limited offering, maybe a cook to order hot breakfast when there are small numbers in the hotel might work well. All in all it was great value for money, friendly effeicient staff, and has wonderful views.

Really enjoyed our 3 night stay in the Deer Park Hotel. My wife and I had a room overlooking the golf course at the front of the Hotel and the view was fantastic. We were on a B&B break which was great value for money. There a great range of fish restaurants in Howth. Staff in the Hotel were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is being refurbished at present but this did not disturb our stay. The pool/sauna was great and the gym looked good. The Hotel runs a courtesy bus into Howth which is a great idea and it took us into the village and provided us with a great deal of useful information. We were offered to be collected from anywhere in the village - just phone - however, we walked back to the Hotel (only 15 mins) and the DARD station is really handy if you wanted to go into Dublin. Will definitely stay again. Thank you

My wife and I stayed for one night B&B in the Deer Park. The hotel is great value for money, really enjoyed the pool. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There are a large range of puns and fish restaurants in Howth and the free shuttle bus provided by the Hotel is an excellent service. Lots of really good walks in the locality. This is my second stay in the Deer Park and I will be back again. Only criticism is that there are only scrambled eggs, not fried, available for breakfast and the coffee and tea were both cold.

As a family of 5, (2 adults, 3 children) we wanted a break before school starts and came across this hotel. As what everybody does, we look at many reviews online and there was many negative reviews so were cautious when booking. However, from the moment we arrived, right through to our departure, (even though we lost our car keys in Dublin City Centre - and found them !! (a different story, for another day), we found the hotel a very family friendly place to stay, and food was most enjoyable. Staff and management were so relaxed and made us all feel at home. The facilities on offer (swimming) which we used on a daily basis enjoyed by all. Will return to this hotel in the near future.. Neil & Lynn & Family Portstewart Co. Derry

We stayed in this hotel in Aug 2012. The drive up to the hotel was very amazing but the actual hotel was very disappointing. It was very tired looking and in need of urgent modernisation. The reception area and some of the corridors had a musty smell. The restaurant appeared disorganised albeit the staff were lovely. The rooms were not bad but again carpet needed cleaned.

I'm giving it 5, because of outstanding views, location and facilities. For this cheap value you get more than you would think. There is tennis, golf, swimming pool, lovely Howth village. In terms of room and food it is rather below expectation, but for this value it great and I really enjoyed 4 nights stay there. I never have played golf and almost did, because it is very cheap and has courses for beginners. Probably we will go there another time.

Patricia scored 1 / 5 on 13/08/2012

We were a party of 3 women and we had a triple room. We found the hotel very dated and a smell of burning the whole time we were there. Food could of been a lot better and to a higher standard. Service was very slow in the restaurant but the staff were pleasent. We have stayed with Lidl breaks before and the Deerpark Hotel would be one of the worst to stay in considering we were staying in Howth, I presumed when booking it would've been to a higher standard because of the area. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Jmarron scored 4 / 5 on 07/07/2012

Excellent location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Old but clean hotel. Friendly atmosphere. Excellent swimming pool and gym services. Great value. Only negatives, didn't have much of a view from our room, and noisy Spanish students staying in rooms both sides of us and gathering in the corroridor beside our room.

Linda scored 4 / 5 on 30/06/2012

I spent 3 nights at the hotel with my husband and son and we had a very nice time there. The views from our window were fab and the room was very spacious for the 3 of us. It was a relief having more space, because in other hotels we had felt quite claustrophobic. Everything was nice and clean, we enjoyed the swimming pool and played tennis for free. The gardens behind the hotel are really beautiful. The hotel has a free bus service to go/back to/from Howth village, which was great. The only small issue we had was at the check out, when we were being charged 10 euro per day for child breakfast, when our son was never at the breakfast service, we took turns to have breakfast while one of us stayed with our son in the bedroom. The offer we bought through Lidl said clearly B&B for adults and kids go free, only pay for kids meals. I had to ask the receptionist to please check with the hotel restaurant, which made me feel uncomfortable. At the end the hotel didn't charge us for that, but it was a bit unpleasant. Everything else was great.

While the food in the Bar was fine I will go for the B&B option the next time to take advantage of the great range of fish resturants in Howth. I was very impressed with this hotel where I stayed with my husband in May 2012 for the weekend. It has a lovely location, just outside Howth village, and a courtesy bus is available on request to bring you down. It is a fairly short walk back, after visiting one of the delicious fish restaurants cosy pubs. (The Howth marina and cliff walks are not far away, either) There is a lovely driveway past Howth Castle leading up to the hotel and its golf course. The rooms have everything you need, plus most of them have a view of the sea. The hotel was very quiet, no disturbances during the night, and we really enjoyed our stay. The breakfast - a buffet mix of cereal, fruit, bacon, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms etc. could have been of better qualiity, but that would be our only complaint. Great deals available over the weekend.

Busy golf and gym with friendly members coming and going during day time. Meals good with evening meal and breakfast included in deal. Hotel was quite with only a small group in bar in evening time, but met our needs. Staff friendly and attentive. We availed of the courtesy bus from hotel to village, Howth is lovely we enjoyed tapas and wine along the seafront and lovely walks. Great value fish and nice food/craft market on Sunday 10am to 4pm. The pool was clean and plenty of room for the kids to enjoy but the air and water temperature was very cold. The restaurant was not open and we had to eat in the bar. The menu as a dinner menu was very limited and we struggled to find something to suit us. The food was fine but nothing special. There were only a few people in the bar, no atmosphere and again we left after our meal as the kids were frozen. Breakfast was in the restaurant, very limited buffet and choice. The food was poor and again we left quickly after eating due to the cold. The hotel was in a lovely setting and we had stayed once before in the Summer but after this experience we would not rush back gain.

We enjoyed our short break away. The views from the hotel are marvellous, on one side is the island of Ireland's Eye and on the other, Dollymount Strand and the city. The drive through the park to the hotel at the top is very pleasant with the castle and golf course on each side. We relaxed in the swimming pool before being served a delicious meal of homemade soup and brown bread, indian lamb on skewers and Eton Mess - a homemade meringue dessert. The beds were very comfortable and the room / bathroom very clean. We enjoyed looking at the fish pond as we had breakfast the following morning. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We're already looking forward to our next break away, and maybe include a short cookery class in the castle the next time!

I'm rating the hotel in general, as we have stayed before (not on a Lidl break). The location is great, beautiful views, lovely 20m walk/2m drive to Howth village which is well served by the DART into Dublin. Hotel service is good too. The two negatives are most likely due to cost-limiting measures. 1) The bar is shared with the Golf Club, and on the night we ate there, we were sharing with a prize-giving function. A number of residents, families/couples (at least 20 people) came in during the hour we were there - to eat I presume, and left again. This is valuable (repeat) business that the hotel lost, as we saw that they then left the building. Maybe if the hotel promoted some of the sitting rooms in the hotel as a small resisents bar, it would invite residents to eat/sit in for the evening? 2)The other negative is the decor in the public areas and corridors - its just looks so worn and dated now. Having said that, on all occasions we stayed, the rooms have been excellent - nice decor, warm and clean. I would love to give the Deer Park 5/5 as I love the location for a weekend in Dublin (and the Sunday morning stroll in Howth, taking in the food market beore we head home) but the bar/barfood option especially is a let down for residents. The Golf Course was busy both mornings and seems to be popular with locals. Lidl Breaks 5/5 as usual!

Spent a 3 night break at Deer pARK,26TH-29TH Aug, wonderful views from hotel, exceptional value Lidl break. Hotel itself breakfast on day one was cold and a dead wasp Sat in one of the food trays, not very appetizing. Seemed understaffed that morning and not enough tables set out for guests. It put me off so much i didnt have breakfast on the other two mornings, but my partner did, opting for tea toast and freshly cooked poached eggs which had to be done there and then and couldn't be cold! Bar food was excellent, kids loved swimming pool. Nice grounds around the hotel and a nice stroll to Howth village. Howth itself i would recommend for a family with kids, not commercialised like other towns of its kind, lovley walk along the pier, nice pubs, great restaurants and a very relaxing break.

Beautiful location and very quiet. A 10 minute walk from pretty Howth village and very handy to Dublin by Bus or DART. Rooms were quite large and comfortable. Decor a little dated. Lovely pool and very nice laid back atmosphere.

A hotel with massive potential but not taking advantage of what it has in terms of views and location. Staff very friendly and more than helpful. Management needs an overhaul as does the decor. Having said that the Lidl offer here is good value for money.

We stayed in room 203 from 13th-15th aug 2011. We were a little sceptical about staying as some of the reviews had slated the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay, staff were very nice and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The kids ( 1 & 4yrs ) had a great time also. The pool area was great for them. The room was clean and spacious. The courtesy bus was an added bonus, the manager dropped us into howth village. We are already planning on returning within the next few weeks.

This was the third lidl break I have been on since January and I have to admit I found the food to be disappointing, the hotel itself (whilst the views are spectacular), the hotel interior does not in any way meet the expectation set by the exterior. It needs modernisation or redecoration at least. The other breaks I have done are the Clarion in Liffey VAlley and the Crown Plaza in Tyrrellstown, both of which are far superior to Deer Park.

Dear lidl, we have just recently retuned from a 3 night break at the Deer Park Hotel Howth which was entirley to our satisfaction. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of heat and hot running water and we had a wonderful view over the Irish sea. The evening meal which came from a fairly substantial menu choice, was excellent the service in the restaurant was very good The leisure center which we were looking forward to the most, the pool water was absolutely delightful. We will be returning soon Thank you all Joe Doyle

Dear lidl, we have just recently done an overnight break plus evening meal deal at the Deer Park Hotel Howth which was only part to our satisfaction. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of heat and hot running water and we had a wonderful view over the Irish sea. The evening meal which was included in the deal came from a fairly restricted menu choice, the service in the restaurant was very good better the service than the meal I would say! The leisure center which we were looking forward to the most, the pool water was absolutely freezing and because of that it meant that the activities had to be cut short sadly because of the cold.....not enjoyable at all. Much as we enjoyed the area we were staying in, and the hotel on the whole was pleasant for a 3 star experience what really let the hotel down was the dreadful skills in dealing with customers which the staff demonstrated at the reception desk...in our opinion possibly the worse we have experienced to date....we would put it down to lack of training and it seemed that no one knew what they were about!. The main bar was closed for the season which also meant we had to sit in what would be considered a living room with a temporary bar set up on a hostess trolly after our meal...well this was another dissapointment to say the least which meant we were left sitting with a group of loud mouthed golfers who seemed to think the facility was just for them and no one else. Sadly will not be returning.

We couldn't fault the stay at the hotel. All the staff were very good to us. We were also allowed to have the extra course on the menu at no extra charge. My wife had some spa treatments done and she was very satisfied with those. The swimming pool was great, nice and warm for our little 18 month old. However, the hotel is old and in need of modernisation. The bar was rough and ready in that I didn't see taps so you could have a pint. The lounge area was taken up by people eating and it was small. They don't have a lift to upstairs which is a disadvantage if you have to use a buggy or wheel chair. Anyway for the price it was very good, we had a fine big room with an excellent view of Ireland's Eye and the bay. Our main objective was the pool and the spa which was well worth it.

I have delayed writing my review in the hope that the manager of the Deer Park would contact me but to no avail. Myself and my sister and sister-in-law arrived at the hotel for our pampering night at 2 oclock and where shown to a lovely newly decorated room only to discover the heating didn't work. We were moved to a smaller room with a couch for the 3rd person but we didn't mind as it was only one night. To make a long boring story short the power went and the heating and lighting went for the night we could not have a shower to get the oils out of our hair so we could not leave the hotel and we had a few beers so we could not drive home!! We slept in a cold room and again could not shower the next morning before we left/ the night was a complete disaster and the manager had not got the decency to come and talk to us before we left/ the receptionist said she could do nothing for us it was not their fault but the esb!!! She took 40 euro off the bill of 300euro not even a voucher to try and keep custom. I work for a tour operator and we value our customers and would offer them a voucher off their next holiday with us. Totally bad form from a hotel struggling by the looks of it.

Date of stay 30/10/10: Arriving at the hotel expectations are high as you drive up a beautiful tree lined driveway past the castle, however when the hotel comes into view it is very disappointing. It looks old and tired; the brown brick work does nothing to improve this. It is such a shame as the views are beautiful from the front of the hotel over looking the golf course, Dublin bay to one side and Irelands Eye, Howth to the other. The girl on reception was lovely, friendly and welcoming so no complaints there and they did have signs up stating that they were having improvements done. Our room was at the back of the hotel none of the beautiful views. The room its self was tired looking and we felt would need a full over hall. The bathroom was clean but grubby looking. We were on the dinner included offer; I would describe the food as hit and miss and to be honest more like very very average pub food and we were eating in the restaurant. On the plus side the goats cheese starter was lovely and so was the fudge cake although it could have done with being warmed, it would have been perfect then. Other than that the food was a none event. The breakfast buffet was very average and the hot!! Food was Luke warm. It is a shame as all of the staff we encountered were lovely and friendly. The spa treatment was great... Sorry but over all I would only rate this hotel with 1 star.

We stayed at the hotel the October bank holiday. We had a family room which was very clean and spacious as we had young children. the pool was adequate and clean. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. the hotel was a little tired looking but the staff more than made up for this. I did have young children and unfortunately there was not a lot for them to do.

Stayed in what was quite obviously a smoking room, having never been offered a choice of smoking or non smoking. Even after leaving the windows open from check in at 2pm until we returned ater 10pm, the smell of smoke was still quite strong in the room. The room itself could have done with a lick of paint and a carpet shampoo, as stains were very noticeable. At breakfast, tables for two had not been cleared after previous diners, so we at at a larger table, then discovered there were no glasses or plates at the buffet table. I have used many 'value breaks' before and felt that they were excellent value. In this instance, however, I feel that we more or less got what we paid for, which is not a lot. Superb location, however, with fantastic views!

I would recommend Lidl breaks to anyone as they are great value for money. The hotel was lovely but would recommend people to get a cab or contact them to see if they can get a curtousey bus as there is a 10-15 min walk to Howth town centre. @ nite time

We stayed here from 5th -7th August. Hotel is suited on 60 areas site. 4 golf courses pitch and putt, two tennis courts, swimming pool and lovely walks. We really enjoyed our stay the staff were excellent and the shuttle bus to Howth was great. The room was lovely and clean and we had a great view of the golf course. I can't wait to return again next year. Excellent Value for Money 5/5

Unfortunately this hotel was a bit tired looking, the potted plants were dead and it could have done with a lick of paint. The food was good but the service was poor as we had to wait a long time The restaurant staff were friendly but the bar man was certainly drunk and kept dissapearing! The bar was a bit like the potted plants too (dead!). On the up side the location was good and we had a lovely sea view.

Lovely family-friendly hotel with friendly, helpful staff in ideal location.Stayed here for 4 nights.Very spacious room with two bathrooms and separate tv area with three piece suite. Leisure centre facilities excellent for both adults and children.Very good buffet breakfast with a selection to suit all tastes. Excellent value for money and will stay here instead of anywhere else if we avail of lidl break again. Howth itself is a very good location for visitors with plenty to see and do as well as easy DART access to Dublin Lidl breaks offer a great variety of location and easy to use informative website. also much better value than any other holiday we ever had.Thank you

The hotel and the grounds were really nice, the only problem i had is the way we were treated in the resturant. The waiter brought us to are seats and gave us menus, which very loudly told us we were on a value menu, ok if he said it once it would be ok but repeated himself at least 3 times, also said we would have to pay extra if ordering from the other menu, which was fine, we were ready to order and my husband wanted to order from al a carte and the waiter started again pointing out loudly were on the value menu and we will be paying extra i wanted the ground to swallow me up, thank god his shift was over and we got a really nice waitress. It would also be better if there was entertainment as it was fridaynight over all experience. ok

My parents stayed here originally for a 4 night break, but had to leave after 2, due to appaling service. Food awful , customer service awful. They then wanted more money on check-out and said it was not for them, but for Lidl. I sent an email to the Manager to complain, but not surprisingly I didn't get a reply. Terrible experience. I have never been so disappointed with a hotel in my life. From the smelly room, dingy bar and slow service in the restaurant I dont know where to start. This being my second lidl break, first being in Park View Hotel which I could not fault to this miserable excuse of a hotel which had the feel of a nursing home, I felt thoroughly disappointed. I even sent an email to the hotel when I returned and to date have not received a reply nearly two months later. Save your money and don't stay here.

Laura scored 1 / 5 on 30/06/2010

Even for the rate we paid for this hotel break with Lidl hotels it wasnt worth the money. THe hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment-it is more like a hostle than a hotel. When we arrived we went for a drink in the bar-the paint was peeling off the walls the glasses were dirty. One of our party had a treatment booked in the SPA but decided to cancel based on cleanliness of the rest of the hotel. Dinner was again of shockingly poor quality-we ended up going for dinner in Howth after as we barely ate any of it. Our room was bright and had a lovely view, however, the bathroom was dirty and we couldnt even borrow an iron from the hotel reception? The worst thing about this whole experience was that an email of complaint was sent the day after and was never acknowledged by the hotel. Worst hotel experience ever in Ireland- I would never reccommend to a friend!!

The hotel is in a fabulous setting for scenery and if you are into golf. The room was basic but clean. The bar and the restaurant were a little small and dark for my taste but there was an outside area for both which we enjoyed. There are tennis courts at the back of the hotel which we were happy to make use of and had to ourselves. There is a lovely walk up through a wild garden with fabulous views from the top. The staff were friendly and we would go back.
