“We recently stayed for 3 nights DBB. Our room on the ground floor (as requested) was spotless & maintained daily, but the furniture was old style.The Full Irish breakfast had everything, mushrooms, beans, hash browns etc. Refills of tea/ coffee was always offered. The starters & dinners yhwere first class both in quality & quantity & we sampled most of them. The dining room staff couldn't do enough for us. The hotel did not have a pool or gym , this was more than compensated for by the friendliness of the staff & the quality of the food.”

Food in the bar was very good in terms of presentation and taste, breakfast also very good. Very good adherence to COVID requirements. Our room was well presented and clean, excellent shower pressure. Good location and only a 15 min walk to Main Street for example. My wife and I very much enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others.”

Bedroom was clean and well equipped the only small thing would be that the furniture could do with a bit of an update but the bed was very comfortable. There was a hotel maintenance office in the grounds outside our room, approx 5 metres away so had to keep curtains to external windows as staff could look in if left open. Foyer, bar and restaurant were good.”

“I know it's strange times but the hotel could have been more accommodating we arrived at 2.40 knowing it was too early to check in I asked anyway and was told check in was 4 there was no bar open or anywhere just to get a cup of tea or coffee another family arrived and where checked in straight away I front of me then the receptionist z she would check if my room was ready which she could have done in the first place as my room was ready after all.no bar service til 5 could only sit in bar if eating otherwise had to sit in lobby but u still had to go into bar and order your drinks and no screens around bar counter.my partner went into the bar which was empty to order a drink he asked if he could watch sky sports news on the bar tv and was told no cos he wasnt eating.last drinks at 11 and libby had to be cleared by 11.30 there was 1 gin glass available in the bar and no straws.nice hotel breakfast was lovely as were the staff serving it .”

Food good in bar if abit pricey. Don't stay in rooms over the outside smoking area as it can be noisy there at night. Overall a pleasant stay. Killarney is an expensive town to eat out in as all restaurants and gastro bars appear to charge in and around the same prices for very ordinary food, Starters, main courses all overpriced, shop bought Desserts all at least 7e everywhere we went for what I've picked up in Aldi and Lidl for a fraction of this price”

“We had an amazing break. This started at the Reception Desk, we were welcomed and given our room. The room was compact however it was lovely. The real strength of the hotel lies with the Staff and the Food. We went for dinner later that evening in The Bacchus Room Restaurant. First of all, we were very impressed with the staff, there were lots of young people with great manners and communication skills. The dinner was just delicious, we had Lemon Sole and Salmon, both dishes were so tasty. We went out in the town that night and had a great time in the Grand. The next morning, we had a Great Breakfast, where everything was just freshly cooked. This makes such a difference. Great Staff again came to the fore in the morning. Thank You to the Riverside Hotel for a truly Lovely Break.”

When we arrived in our room I was disappointed as the bed was a double and as I find it difficult to sleep I went to reception to enquirer if it was possible to get a room with a bigger bed. The lady on the reception desk could not have been more helpful and a room with a super king size bed became available immediately without any extra cost! And what a comfy bed it was; great nights sleep. Staff are lovely and friendly. Looking forward to returning.”

“Despite a request on Booking for a disability room and cot in 2nd room, these were not provided. When I pointed out to the Receptionist on duty about the disability room, her answer was all the rooms are disability access with wide doors and low baths. I'm sorry but this is not accepted standard for a disability access. You need proper walk in showers to take wheelchair/rollators plus proper hand rails to classify a disability bathroom. Hotel please take note. We decided not to pursue with the cot as the room given was quite small to take one. Also, there seemed to be a problem with supplying a top-up toilet roll. in our room. Duvets on beds were quite heavy and rooms very warm despite turning off radiator at wall. The one evening meal included in our stay was awful. Dried overcooked salmon plus steak which was well overdone. Also choice on menu was poor with extra charge supplement required on most main courses. Overall, the hotel foyer was lovely and we encountered one Waitress in the Restaurant who was exceptional. Maria Colgan.”

“A group of 8 of us stayed there recently for a 70th birthday. We had put alot of time and effort in to making sure everything was going to be right and had thought we had made the right decision in booking this hotel how wrong we were were. From start to finish it was a diaster..There was a problem with one of the rooms in the booking thought dinner was inckuded but it wasnt but before we were even seated for dinner got acosted 3 times by staff members even when we sat down same thing it got really embarssing and uncomfortable as this was supposed to bea soecial occasion and thought this could be handled more discreetly not in front of 7 other people..I even went out to the girl on rececption and told her to put the extra 2 meals on our room but just as meal was finished was forced to pay there and then , so unprofessional. The meal was awful 3 lamb shanks were ordered and sent back you couldn't even cut through them there were like leather..veg was hard and potatoes werent much better , it was sat night a few eating in the restaurant i wonder why..We had asked for the birthday cake to come out with the teas and coffees and they forgot. We were all so disappointed couldnt wait to leave the next morning. We did complain as we were leaving she wrote a couple of lines down and took our number still waiting on a phonecall , they obviously couldnt care less as more unfortunate people will probaly have the same experience as us...Stay well clear of this hotel so wish we never booked it...”

Restaurant staff friendly , but ensured we knew we were on a" Lidl break "and could only pick from Early Bird menu. Breakast excellent, buffet for cereal etc but full irish served to table, lovely touch. Rooms were spotless, though old brown furniture gave it an old feel. Central location no problem to get to any area ie town, national park etc. Would stay again and would recommend.”

The Staff in the hotel were second to none, they couldn't have done enough for us. The Food in the restaurant was top class & the breakfast was so nice with any amount & variety of food for fussy children & hungry adults. I would highly recommend this hotel to any Family looking for a break away in Killarney.”

“We enjoyed a recent trip to the Riverside Hotel, staff were extremely friendly, courteous and efficient. Our room was nice, clean and bright and had all the accessories required for a short stay. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and really liked their healthy options. The dinner menu was quite limited especially on our first evening and when I requested the fish to be pan-fried instead of deep-fried in batter, the chef declined my request, which was a pity as I had to change to another choice. I was disappointed as it takes only a few minutes to pan-fry a piece of cod! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return as it is very conveniently situated. Another point I would like to make is that the reception staff request full payment on arrival, it is the only hotel known to us that make this request, when I mentioned it to them, they said it was to ease queue at check-out but we saw none during our stay. We checked out at 11.30am and we were alone with no queue in sight!!!!”

“We had a nice stay in this hotel. However it was a little dated, not the standard of other four star hotels. Everything seemed clean but just old, especially the bathroom. No water offered in the room, and only very basic toiletries, that kind of thing. The food was only ok, I would recommend going in to eat in Killarney town. However the staff were friendly and as we got a very good price on the room I think it was worth what we paid. It's a little too far out to walk into Kilarney town at night so we got a taxi. Very close to the ring of Kerry, Torc waterfall etc.”

“This is a good hotel and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and dinner was fine. The dining room is a little dark and I did not understand why the curtains were closed on a lovely summer evening. We were handed the inclusive dinner menu only and the main course choices were a little limited. Staff were excellent and service too. I was disappointed to find the pictures of seating beside the river were actually taken in the public park next door and not in the hotel grounds, which consists of car parking only. We enjoyed our stay and had a lovely time.”

The receptionist sent up a woman ( housekeeper) who showed us to another room that had not been cleaned out (This was circa 4.00.pm) On the third attempt and on a different floor, she found us a room that appeared to have set up for new guests. ON closer inspection, there was a layer of dust, stained carpets and no fan in the ensuite. After leaving our luggage, I adjourned to the bar only to be served a pint of Carlsberg, that was "off”

Nice clean quiet room and very nice breakfast with great choice. Loses a star in my opinion as room we had was a ground floor room overlooking the car park when a more elevated room overlooking the river would have been appreciated, we had no reason to complain given the competitive room rate we got. Bed adequate but not the most comfortable I have spelt in.”

The location for Killarney was perfect and I had a lovely view looking out over the river. I used the hotel for a mini break and the hotel was perfect for that need and in fact would be perfect for longer stays and business use. I would recommend this hotel to everybody without reservation.”

“Our stay in the Riverside Hotel was a pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived we were made welcome. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, just a short distance from Killarney town centre and a stroll away from Killarney National Park. Our package included a 2 course evening meal which in the context of what we paid for the overall stay was excellent value. Breakfast is a feast offering everything from the traditional irish to fruit , cereals cheese etc. I would highly recommend the Riverside Hotel for a break and will certainly make a return visit.”

“We had a girls night away at this hotel and it was great. The rooms were spotless and the beds were super comfortable. We had a very enjoyable dinner in the restaurant and breakfast was also lovely. We relaxed by the fire in the lobby with a glass of wine and just had a really relaxing stay. Would totally recommend as it was great value for money.”

Downside of this hotel was the bedroom. Clock radio on the bedside locker had about 10 years of dirt engrained in it. The room looked like it hadnt been dusted in days. The extractor fan for the shower was blocked with lumps of dust!!! The sink rim silicone was covered in mildew. The seal around the bedroom window was broken, leading to a draughty night and early morning wake up due to traffic noise, the window may as well have been open !! Overall happy with the location,lobby area and service but very disappointed with room 208.”

“Dear Riverside hotel, on sat the 28th of September I was 10 years married, my mother was 75 so as a surprize our whole family got together and decided 2 stay in Killarney because we love it down there, my mother and sister stayed for 2 nites ans 10 others arrived on sat afternoon. It was a fabulous wend the staff were so nice and friendly we thouroughly enjoyed it. But on sunday am at about 7am the door 2 our room was opened by a member of staff and a naked man was allowed into our room , I was deeply upset about it and brought it to the attention of the reception staff, But I feel nothing was done about it and I am truely sad about it. As I said we had alovely time before it all happened. I would like an apology from the Hotel as I hope to visit Killarney again soon before the Christmas period. thanks Trish”

“The hotel was clean and presentable but the food was really terrible, on the first night we ordered the dinner which came with the packet and we were given a single menu which was seperate from the legitimate one, the meat was two thin slices of roast beef that was hard and reheated, it was served with pureed potatoes which was the texture of baby food and tasteless, the dessert was undercooked and aslo tasteless. I complained to the manager but he just nodded and walked away. The next night we bought food from the bar and the burgers were rancid, so all we could eat were chips and we were charged the grand price of 30 Euro for this displeasure! As for the breakfast, it was just about enough to keep hunger at bay for about thirty minutes, there was no buffet for the cooked breakfast so we were given one rasher of bacon, one sausage, one egg. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I recommend a Lidl break to anyone.”

“I booked the hotel for a girls quiet night in Killarney on a Friday night. Firstly the staff were very friendly and as we had arrived early, we were able to check in ahead of time. The wait staff couldn't do enough. The room was fine but there was a faint smell of cigarette smoke so it appeared that some previous guest had been smoking in the room. We didn't complain about this to the front desk. I was hesitant about eating in the hotel for dinner as the reviews were not so positive. Unfortunately the reviews were accurate. I was concerned about my main course and sent it back to the kitchen for review as I felt it wasn't quite right. The waitress advised that the chef had said that it was cooked as it should be but offered me an alternative. I declined. They promised an extra big dessert, which I received and the manager also removed the main course from our bill. So again, I could not fault the staff in the hotel. Overall, very positive feelings about the staff, but serious concerns about the food from the restaurant.”

The bed covers were dirty, whilst the hotel changed it once notified, we felt that this was disappointing. We were also disappointed to find 2 of the towels in the bathroom were not clean. Overall the hotel was satisfactory but we would not stay there again and would not recommend to friends.”

Breakfast was tasteless, and the dinner was just ok - it was like something I would have cooked at home. I was expecting a bit more for my money. Was in shock when the bill came - especially when they charged us for the pint that the waitress spilled all over the table (and never replaced!). This hotel is definitely not the 5 mins walk from the center that was claimed on the website - it is more like 15-20mins. Disappointing overall. Rooms are clean but the heat at night is sweltering! The pillows were very hard but the bed was comfy. One thing I will say for the area - people are so friendly and I would recommend Murphy's pub in the town for food - absolutely delicious and better value for money!”

However we spoke to the manager and there is a new head chef starting the 15th March, and she's meant to be inventive and food of a very high standard... which means we'll have to return to test it out!!”

“I would have to say straight away upon entering the hotel it was clear to me how friendly and warm the staff made you feel. The two receptionists in particular were so helpful on so many occasions i couldn't praise them highly enough. Reception area and lobby of the hotel was immaculate. Rooms very very comfortable the only downfall i had was how warm the rooms were, could hardly breathe at night that's how warm they were. Also a big shout out to the girls in the restaurant top class and the meals were absolutely gorgeous from breakfast to dinner. The only down point was the bar absolutely no atmosphere and wouldn't encourage to have a drink there. Also the fact that you couldn't get sky sports was a major downer for me. All and all though fantastic hotel staff absolutely brilliant couldn't recommend it highly enough, especially for couples.”

Upon entering there is an immediate sense of comfort and hospitality, with a cosey lounge lit and warmed by a real fire, many soft couches and a chess board. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are very well prepared and unlike many other hotels, the beds are extremely comfortable! Bathrooms are spacious with a lot of worktop space, bath/shower and a special makeup mirror. There is plenty of space in the rooms; wardrobe, drawers etc,. The view can be disappointing depending on which room you are located in (I personally had the view of stones and motors). Dinner and Breakfast in the Riverside will not disappoint, with an appetizing buffet breakfast including full Irish breakfast, and a filling dinner and dessert. The hotel is located more than a 5 minute walk from the town center, on average a 10-15 minute walk with baggage. However, it is ideally located and while walking toward the town, you can easily access the Ross Road and Killarney National Park. Overall an amazing place to stay and I will without a doubt be returning!”

“We stayed at the Riverside Hotel In Killarney for a one night, dinner B&B to celebrate Valentines Day and our 22nd wedding anniversary. Our first impressions were good , lovely modern and bright reception area but with an open fire so it looked cosy and welcoming too. Reception staff were friendly and polite.My husband requested a quiet room as we are both quite noise intolerant and they gave us a room to the rear of the hotel but sadly it was right next to some sort of generator or fan which went on and off very 20 minutes or so. We didn't think it was too bad until we tried to get some sleep but it was impossible to sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time. Also I found the decor in the room quite strange as it was a medium sized room but had a huge black free standing wardrobe and dresser, very gothic looking but hard to use the dresser as the drawers were quite a bit stuck. Not what I would expect from a 4 star. I must say it was all spotlessly clean. Aside from that the bar and restuarant staff were all lovely and the food was excellant. All in all we enjoyed the evening but not the night and I felt that we had been put into an inferior room. My star rating is based on the room we stayed in not the rest of the hotel.”

“Fantastic Hotel! We got a brilliant deal & couldn't say enough about the hotel. The staff were so friendly, down to earth but totally professional & nothing was too much trouble. Quite often, I feel, when I've managed to book such a good value deal, I feel that i'm not given quite the same service as guests who may have paid the going rate, not so with the Riverside. Everything was fantastic, lovely rooms, fabulous, well trained, professional friendly staff, amazing food, breakfast was one of the best I've had anywhere. I had to argue about the price on check-in and then at check-out I again had to argue with the receptionist who was insisting that the deposit I had paid was a booking fee and not a deposit. Also there was no fresh fruit at breakfast and the evening menu was exactly the same on both evenings with just three choices. I would rate the hotel as a two star at most. I was clean and pleasant otherwise with a nice lobby area and plenty of comfortable seats.”

“Nice hotel, Great breakfast, poor dinner, and missing those few things which make a 4 star hotel. No leisure facilities obviously, but the room falls short. Poor wardrobe space, no shelving, no fridge, no air con, no ethernet connection ( only pay wireless), shower curtain, and this mounted only 2 feet from the wall so it clings to you when using the shower. Bath is a glorified shower tray, only 12 inches deep to the overflow, impossible to have a soak as the water will not go past your hips unless you are a stick insect. The furniture is quaint and funereal looking, probably was expensive but does not integrate well. A domestic or B and B feel about the room in general. The big letdown was the food. Meals were included, the inclusive menu was taken from the a la carte, usually a good thing. Not so. All the food served was portion pack, spring rolls, brie, though they were OK, mains were indifferent and tasteless, definitely not freshly made to order. The veg was all frozen, green beans, carrots peas, served with a big dollop of mash. I would have been very upset if I had paid a la carte prices for canteen food. Very ordinary three star, but could be fixed easily. On the plus side, breakfast was cooked to order, a rarity these days, and was delicious. Staff were very nice.”
