“My partner and I decided on a break away last weekend. Having been through a stressful week, we wanted to unwind, but this was far from relaxing. During the night we were awoken c. 2am with shouting/slamming doors/knocking doors/singing/strong smell of smoke. We phoned reception who apparently sent security to resolve the issue. This didn't resolve a thing. I complained on checking out, after a member of staff woke us up by phoning to 'inform' us of check out time being 12pm, even though I had settled this with reception the day previous as being 2pm (I'm an IHG member). Very poor for a regular HI customer.”

“Generally very good value with a very spacious family room and excellent breakfast, had tons of choice for all the family. Front desk was a little confused when checking in re deposit paid and that seemed to hold up our check in but they handled it professionally if not with haste. Definitely recommend and stay again.”

“Location was perfect for us, and free parking is a huge plus. Room was not clean enough , half of pancake was inside of the sofa. We came around 4pm. Maybe staff didn't have enough time, we where waiting outside for few minutes when it's ready. Breakfast was good.”

“The hotel was lovely. The only fault was that when we arrived we were only told that the restaurant was closed for renovation. On our last night our shower was blocked and had a terrible smell. We rang the reception and the lady did offer us another room, but as it was late at night and our kids were asleep we declined. They brought us extra towels and toiletries. They were very helpful and friendly.”

“Grand Hotel, staff were worked to the bone. But full of hens and stags so not suitable for families, place was dirty in the communal areas lifts were filthy in the mornings.. so called family rooms were tiny...... lovely staff though and food wasn't bad”

“Hotel was lovely, clean and modern. About a 10-15 min walk to city centre. It’s in the middle of a student area so lots of fast food and bars around the hotel. Free car parking which was a good benefit. Only bad thing was the bar/restaurant in hotel. It wasn’t great to be honest. Breakfast was just ok, but not much choice. I would book again.”

“I had a room with heavy curtains the full extent of a wall, but with only a tiny window that overlooked small alley and building to the back. Extremely claustrophobic, breakfast very poor, the usual fried affair but for those who didnt want this. Alternative of only 2 cereals , fruit option apples only plastic cups.Hotel on a street that overlooks derelict buildings.”
