David scored 2 / 5 on 17/10/2022

Receptionists are polite and probably the reason it's not a one-star review. Lobby and stairway are nice. Bar staff are lazy and struggle to acknowledge that there are customers. Spend a lot of time chatting and playing with mobile phones. Customers having to go searching for them. With four staff on and about fifteen customers to serve, I thought that there was a lot of facing off that could be done with the bottles behind the bar on the shelves and in the fridge, also it's not very inviting to see lots of chairs being placed upside down on tables while there are plenty of customers in the lounge. Carpet is loose in the elevator even after a lame attempt to lock it down with a piece of wood. Breakfast was nothing to shout about either, cocktail sausages, yes cocktail sausages were lukewarm. bacon looked a bit rough but on the plus side, the homemade brown bread was delicious. Please understand that I don't leave reviews or complain but I had to wonder had the hotel just lost interest in going above and beyond? Pro's - Entrance and lobby, Reception staff Con's - Bar staff, boring breakfast.

Ian scored 4 / 5 on 18/11/2021

The hotel was lovely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and very covid friendly. We did not feel at any stage it was too crowded to be comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and fresh. The staff very friendly. Could not find any fault during our stay.

Michael scored 4 / 5 on 08/10/2021

Lovely hotel. Rooms were fine and spacious. Breakfast only okay. Staff were very helpful.

Jen scored 4 / 5 on 17/09/2021

Gerard scored 4 / 5 on 23/08/2021

The hotel is a really lovely building and the young staff are very friendly and efficient. The location is easy to find with lots of free parking available. It is an ideal location for exploring both Galway and Clare. We enjoyed our stay and having the use of the Leisure Centre pool added to our enjoyment. The only annoying thing we found was that the room temperature remained very warm even with all windows open.

Maria scored 3 / 5 on 17/08/2021

No room service or housekeeping, no tea/coffee/kettle, rubbish left outside our room for 2 days, excuse was due to covid. Unfriendly staff, never welcomed us nor asked was our stay enjoyed. Breakfast was a shambles with no cutlery or mugs, breakfast had no toast, got half it served and had to wait for the eggs to be cooked to order. Serving staff had no experience or proper training. Overall a bad experience.

Gerard scored 4 / 5 on 14/08/2021

Excellent value , booked via Bargain Breaks. swimming facilities first class and staff very flexible. rooms were clean, food overall was very good.I’d give a solid 8/10 for my stay. Opportunities serve breakfast on a hot plate In the bar, improved snack menu would be good , ie ciabatta rolls, wraps, paninis etc Reception - when you make an error on check out, acknowledge this by apologising, not a great experience but certainly did not spoil a very enjoyable stay !!

Caitriona scored 4 / 5 on 25/07/2021

We loved our stay in the Lady Gregory hotel, everything was clean and fresh in our room, the dinner and breakfast was lovely, while the lady in reception was very busy on arrival, she worked brilliantly under pressure and dealt with everyone’s needs very efficiently, well done, great value for money and centrally based for lots of sightseeing

Arlene scored 3 / 5 on 30/06/2021

Hotel was clean and staff were very nice. Very under staffed, especially at dinner time, only 2 staff on servicing dinners on Friday night and bar tables were all full. Same on Saturday night only there was 3 people servicing. Food could be a lot nicer.

Joan scored 3 / 5 on 30/06/2021

We have just returned from a one night stay which we really enjoyed. The receptionist Andrea was the most plesent and helpful person. She makes every guest feel welcome. She would make you want to return. The hotel is spotless and has a great pool. I can't wait to go back.

Helen scored 3 / 5 on 29/06/2021

Had to change room as the bed was way to hard, second room much better, it was very basic, no air conditioning, Covid regulations were implemented perfectly, breakfast very disappointing, dinner was lovely, easy to check in and staff were really nice and friendly.

Hotel and facilities very good, the only complaint I'd have is breakfast it's shoddy and bacon could be an awful lot better cooked and done on both sides.

Sheila scored 4 / 5 on 15/06/2021

Good value...evening meals were excellent. Breakfast was a bit haphazard though. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Would stay there again...but not get too excited about the breakfast!

We had a lovely time at this hotel, really great staff in all areas, constant cleaning going on in all public areas, the hotel were very Covid aware. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast on each moring of our stay. We travelled with a young child and there is a great playground right accross the road which our daughter enjoyed. Very comfortable beds, we have never stayed in this hotel before but we will stay again for definite.

We had an enjoyable stay despite the restrictions. We had it booked before the lockdown. The staff were amazing, hand sanitisers throughout the hotel, plastic dividers at reception. Unfortunately the pool and leisure was closed but we were made aware before we arrived.

Lovely bright spacious rooms. Staff were all very friendly and attentive. Great selection and choice for breakfast. Food in the bar was also excellent. The leisure facilities in the hotel are excellent and spotless. The hotel is very convenient for visiting the Burren and also within walking distance of the train station which serves Galway and Limerick..

Sean scored 5 / 5 on 04/01/2016

We had a wonderful stay here .The staff were really friendly and the food was first class plus the facilities were excellent, just one item to complain about, when having dinner, you must have in the bar when you are with LIDL breaks and not in restaurant.

Blackrockers scored 4 / 5 on 07/07/2014

The Blackrockers take 2! The groupschemebreaks.com website incorrectly states that the dinner included in the 2 nights b and b and one evening meal is 2 courses. We were very pleasantly surprised to discover that the meal is actually 3 courses and tea and coffee. It is important to get that message out there.

Blackrockers scored 4 / 5 on 07/07/2014

We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. We were a little apprehensive booking the hotel because it was such good value but we were so wrong. The room was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The staff we exceptionally good in every way, without being over the top, and they seemed to enjoy their work. Fabulous pool. The hotel is really well located for touring both Galway and Clare.

Rr scored 5 / 5 on 18/06/2014

Great Hotel! They gave us a lovely room. Spacious, super clean! We had dinner in the bar as well which was absolutely lovely! Really nice food! The breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted great. The staff were very polite and efficient. A great stay alltogether! Would always go there again!

Hugh scored 5 / 5 on 01/04/2014

We really enjoyed our stay in the Lady Gregory Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms comfortable and the food excellent. We used our stay to explore Coole Park (former home of Lady Gregory, and visited by large numbers of literary figures), as well as a base for a drive through the Burren. Highly recommended.

Helenb. scored 5 / 5 on 24/08/2013

We found the Lady Gregory Hotel, to be welcoming, friendly and fantastic value for money. The food was a wonderful combination of comfort food and wonderful tastes. Well cooked and presented efficiently by very friendly staff. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean and we found that the a hotel to be very family friendly and homely. Although not much in Gort itself the hotel is ideally located for a starting point for the all the local sites, from The Burren to the Cliffs of Moher. The Allwee Caves with their Raptue Experience is a must for everyone.. We have no hesitation in recommending the lady Gregory and would definitely return for a nights stay in the future.

Fortune scored 4 / 5 on 09/08/2013

Myra scored 4 / 5 on 06/01/2013

This hotel really lived up to my expectations. Great place to stay with friendly hardworking staff and excellent food. Ideal spot for touring as near to Clare, Ennis and lots of very interesting places such as Coole Park amd Yeats tower etc. Went for a short New Year break and it was lovely. Would love to stay there again at a later stage and would recommend it to family friends. It was also great value Thanks, Myra.

Dave scored 4 / 5 on 25/09/2012

This is a very nice hotel.! About a 5 to 10 minute walk to the centre of Gort. Rooms and the general decor were excellent. Hotel bar was very good. More like a pub than a typical hotel bar.Dinner was excellent. Only dissapointments were no WiFi and breakfast. Breakfast was a small cereal/juice buffet and then table served and dissapointing hot with watery coffee. Buffet style is becoming the norm in most Irish hotels. Perhaps the Lady Gregory should follow and with a self serve bean to cup coffee machine! That said we would return again.

John scored 4 / 5 on 03/04/2012

We availed of a short break, and found the Hotel to be Clean , with tea & coffee facilities in the room. The room was large with comfortable beds, & a clean on-suite toilet, bath, & shower. The staff were friendly & helpful. The food we had for were good. We were a little disapointed with the veg. served with the dinner we had. It was mixed together, more like a hash. It is nice to see & be able to identify the veg one is eating. Overall we were satisfied.

Breeda scored 2 / 5 on 27/03/2012

My Partner and I have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Lady Gregory Hotel, from our arrival to departure the staff are so helpful, & friendly really go out of their way to assist no matter what the question is. The Accommodation was exactly as we asked for, with everything at hand & spotless, as for the food we just could not get enough of it, Great Breakfast plenty to choose from, Lunch was Carvery with Tea/Coffee €9 (great choices) a full 4 Course meal for €20 with a great selection to lavish on, honestly we were so full after each meal, plenty of relaxing was always on the cards! Check out "Breda" at Breakfast, she is amazing to wake up to every morning, so full of chat making us feel so welcome, the same applies to the Bar staff, nothing was a problem even after hours. We experienced 3 weddings during our stay, this to us speaks mountains, and we were still treated as if we were the only ones staying there. Plenty to do in the local area the small village is in walking distance from the Hotel, with real cute "Old School" Pubs with open fires and plenty of chat from the locals once again to make us feel so welcome. A visit to Galway City to get some of the last Sale bits & pieces was a must, also a fantastic day in the Burren, so beautiful. We would very much recommend, and without a doubt return as soon as possible. We would like to thank Lidl for giving us this fantastic opportunity, with a very big "Thank You" to all the staff in the Lady Gregory Hotel (6 Star plus ) from us. Val

We had a long weekend with our family and found that the staff rooms and the size of the rooms was excellent. We ate in both the bar and the resturant and found the food and staff were great. We used the leisure facilities and again no issues, we really did have a great weekend and will be booking again!!! Also its location is great in relation to other heritage sites in and around the area, well wortha visit!!

I haven't one bad word to say about the Lady Gregory Hotel. The family room we were allocated was very spacious and clean, the leisure facilties were very good with a decent sized pool and separate one for the kids. The food was very tasty and the portions more than generous. However the best thing about this hotel is its staff, every one of them were more than helpful but a special mention to Brian who went out of his way to get our wifi sorted (making 2 boys and their parents very happy!) and to Sheila behind the bar for passing on all her local knowledge of places to go. Thankyou we will be back and have already recommended you to all our family and friends!

Having booked three rooms in the Lady Gregory Hotel for a family celebration we were all looking forward to the night. However on arrival i discovered that the hotel had only a record of one booking for a double room. They had no reservation for the two family rooms despite the fact that i had received both an e mail and a text message confirming all bookings. But the girl at reception could not have been nicer and booked us all in straight away at the rate that i had got through lidl breaks.ie. This offer is great value for money. The Lady Gregory is a fantastic hotel with top class accommodation and excellent food and i would highly recommend it to everybody. It is well worth going off the new by-pass to visit it either for food or to stay. (Lidl breaks.ie have contacted me and the hotel to apologise for the error). Pat Reidy.

very good experience here. we stayed with our 10 year old girl and my brother in law who is confined to a wheel chair. the staff were very friendly and helpfull and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. All meals were excellent even the bar food was good. the pool, is lovely and was enjoyed by us all. The wheel chair friendly room made the break for my brother in law. We stayed on a Friday night and would have loved some music that night in the hotel but we will be making a return stay to this Hotel in August. Colm.
