Travel Description
Located in Sligo town on the Enniskillen Road and just off the N15 from Donegal and N4 from Dublin with the Atlantic coast nearby, and views of the spectacular Benbulben from the hotel.
Area Description
Sligo until now has been relatively unexplored. However, as a destination it has literally everything to offer. There are several blue flag beaches within a 10 min drive from the hotel. Strandhill is renowned for its International surfing. Freshwater and deep sea fishing are also popular during the fishing season, sea fishing trips operate from Mullaghmore and Rosses Point which are just a few minutes from the hotel.
Really enjoyed our stay, the room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff were very pleasant, breakfast was lovely with great choices. We will definitely return at some stage.
Great hotel stay....lovely breakfast...Good facilities....very good spa
Staff are lovely. Food was very nice. Beds are comfortable. Room was spacious. Handy drive into town.
Very pleasant helpful staff.
A beautiful hotel with all you need for a family break away. Food in the bar was beautiful and staff (from waitresses to room cleaning) were all very attentive and helpful, nothing was ever a bother. The bottom floor of the hotel is very handy for children, especially with the rainy weather. The sensory room and the mini golf to the right of the hotel are great and the fact they are free is an extra bonus. Self check-in i thought isn't the best, ok l for larger groups or if you have stayed before but if you are new to the hotel you wouldnt be aware of the mini golf, bottom floor play rooms or breakfast times etc. Also breakfast being totally self-service isn't ideal for families as toast can be slow. In my opinion at hotels that hot drinks and and toast are served to the table is much better as at least the children can get started whilst parents take turns at carrying every1s food to them. Apart from that we had an excellent stay and will definitely be back!
Lovely hotel, staff were pleasant and the food was good. We actually forgot an item and the hotel packaged and posted it back to us which was much appreciated.
This hotel was beautiful set in lovely grounds, the rooms were spotless and spacious with everything needed, the food in the restaurant was lovely and really nice friendly staff
We had a great time breakfast was lovely
The staff was lovely and helpful. Food great. Had a lovely break with kids and was easily accessible and quiet and close to the town. Room spacious and airy and quiet. Will go back soon.
It was a nice stay with unexpected treat in the room for our wedding anniversary ????
Very good service, clean rooms and a good breakfast.
.
Appreciate the provision of Gluten Free breakfast items
Hotel was very dated. The room wasn't very nice The breakfast was warm at best.
This is my 3rd time to stay in this hotel, highly recommend it,staff are great, facilities are excellent and the food is out of this world.
Had a family birthday at the hotel. They were very kind by giving us three round tables in a little alcove all by ourselves x very private
This is my third time staying at the clayton hotel. I booked this last minute. My first time was pleasant enough though there was not enough hot water for 2 of us. My second night was not as pleasant. The room was extremely warm so I opened the windows. There was an event.on and the noise was so bad I had to close the window again. That evening I looked on the website and it stated the sweet shop was open. I brought my daughter down and was told by an unpleasant girl on reception that its closed. I asked could I order room service online and was told just go into the restaurant there and order. Which defeated the purpose!

Very good standard of accommodation. The staff were friendly and efficient
Second visit to the Clayton Hotel Sligo in 12 months. Upgraded to a 2 bedroom family room and it was great - beds very comfortable...the space the 2 bedroom family room provides is exactly our requirements and worth the upgrade cost. I could not access online check in a few days prior to our stay, like we did previously - or even for booking a time for dinner/breakfast when I was checked in/ present in the hotel...in other words the online function/guest service for such was not available to use...at least it was for me when I was there. Beautiful foyer here I always thought - (been to wedding reception held here before) pleasant check in at reception. Used the main pool and was nice, however the ladies shower area still needs a good revamp, with doors requiring secure latches and lockers requiring locks. Ate in the Bulban bar on the evening and it was quite busy, wait staff was pleasant and kind to my little one, the food did take a spell to get to our table, but was very tasty and dinner in the whole was faultless from that point on. Breakfast was a dream of an easy experience the following morning - lots of seating - various plant milks available, very pleasant helpful servers/staff, a thank you to the lovely gentleman who came to my aid when a closh decided to be cumbersome and disagree with my opening it... Had a giggle over it. Overall I'd say our stay was a mark above our stay, at almost the same timeframe last year. I would certainly return for a stay here again.
This was my second time to visit this hotel unfortunately this time round my stay was nothing like my first visit. Room wasn't great had to wait quite a while on dinner also mentioned when booking it was a birthday surprise for my husband if a something could be left in the room I would of paid extra for this. But nothing was there and room was very dark and small at the back of the hotel and then the delay of dinner and we requested no garnish on our foods but came with it anyways. So unfortunately it was a let down I wouldn't normally mind but it was my Husband's birthday treat so disappointing
Set in beautiful surroundings, Clayton Hotel Sligo didn’t disappoint.. we booked a family room & we were delighted to get two adjoining rooms. Rooms are modern, spacious & so clean & fresh. Dining was excellent , in a relaxing atmosphere. So much so we dined in the hotel for our entire stay. All of the staff we encountered were so friendly & helpful. We had a fantastic time & would highly recommend staying here.
Good hotel and accommodating staff however service on New Year’s Day was very slow for food and drinks
We really enjoyed our stay at the Clayton, the staff were so friendly and helpful the lady on the desk that help in the leisure center was just brillant nothing was any bother to her. Will be back
Lovely and clean pool area very good. Food was good. Great location. The only fault if you could say it was a fault was the bedrooms were way to hot at night
Lovely stay, beds so comfortable our room was very big & bathroom bigger! Breakfast was excellent great choice! Staff so friendly! Easy parking! Bar food menu wasn’t great not much choice.. but would highly recommend it & stay again!
Nice
we had an amazing stay, food was lovely, pool was brilliant.
Have stayed many times and always been happy. But this time around the room, 4181, smelt musty. Carpet in this room could do with a good clean also. Cannot fault the staff throughout the hotel, pleasant and courteous at all times. Food in bar, good value for money.
A fantastic hotel to stay in. Family rooms brilliant, loads of room and very clean. Staff outstanding and friendly.
A fantastic hotel with very friendly staff and brilliantly run. Food excellent. I would highly recommend.
Another brilliant stay at this hotel, facilities and brilliant and staff so friendly and helpful.
Staff were super friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable but very stuffy with a hard to open window. Hotel in need of a freshen up over all. Breakfast OK. Overall, good value for what we paid.
Was very disappointed with this hotel for 2 main reasons. 4 of us were staying for 3 nights and on arrival on the Monday afternoon we found the rooms were not ready. I would doubt very much they were fully booked on the Sunday evening. We decided to have lunch while we waited. The lunch was just very average and this made us decide not to dine in the hotel apart from breakfast. The breakfast each morning was very good. On returning to the hotel the following afternoon we found our rooms had not been made up nor the tea/coffee/towels replenished. On contacting reception we were told it was the hotels policy not to do this unless asked for !!! We wondered was it a hotel or a hostel. We were told there was a card in each room to hang on the door to ask for the room to be cleaned. We did this the next day and on returning found the bed had been made OK but they did not replenish the tea/coffee. We left very disappointed.
Really comfortable room. Great breakfast.
pleasant staff in reception, pool and breakfast. Rooms v clean and fresh but decor a bit dated. Bottled water and some biscuits with the tea and coffee tray would be nice, Good hairdresser and iron in the room Limited channels on the TV Queues for breakfast and obviously understaffed with so many tables not cleared. Shortage of glasses, plates, mugs etc for breakfast but it was Mid-Term. Thes staff work very hard in particular at breakfast. Leisure facilities were basic but apt. Location was great and beautiful building and grounds. Great value for what we paid for the room and got to use the pool and jacuzzi too.
We had an amazing stay, room so luxurious and fantastic sleep on really comfortable bed. Breakfast was exceptional, staff so helpful and courteous. Can't wait to go back
The hotel was lovely and the room was brilliant, staff were so friendly, got talking to one of the barmen and he was so nice and helpful.the only negative thing was the jacuzzi wasn't working or the steam room, other than that we loved it.
We had a lovely 1 night stay . We had dinner in the bar/bistro area shortly after arrival . The food and service was excellent . The Guinness was slightly inconsistent with a significant difference in quality between the drinks. The breakfast on the morning was very good with no waiting time . Tge staff at breakfast were very efficient and courteous. The seating was a little cramped but manageable.
Another great stay in the Clayton
The hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and helpful the evening meal was excellent However, the pool and spa were very disappointing, the pool had 2 lanes roped off leaving very little room to swim, the jacuzzi and steam room were both out of order. The breakfast which we paid €15 each for was also very disappointing, the rashers, sausages etc were on a hot plate which made them dry and tasteless, we particularly hate hot plate breakfasts , the bar (while the staff were lovely) had no atmosphere and most people took their drinks out to the lobby, a bit of music at the weekend would have helped a lot....
The staff were excellent - friendly and very helpful
Enjoyed our stay. Room was lovely and plenty of space. Excellent Breakfast. Would definitely recommend
Rooms were cold and we had no way to control the heat. Requested ground floor and got first floor..got a room change with a plug in heater but room wasn't suitable as hotel is huge and way further down corridors than my original room. Website advertised for kids club but not available when we arrived...did not specific during holiday periods only. Breakfast was very poor with limited selection...no sausages left on Sunday and had to wait for more bacon to come as what was left was terrible. Had issue with the games machines that hotel had no control over. Kids meals pricey. Had no Santa paper left to write letter in Santa room..manager provided us with plain paper in the end so child could write the note. Asked about using family career card during check in as they allow discount and was told we couldn't that it should have been done with the booking. Overall I was disappointed with our family break away there in the hotel.
Hotel was lovely, very comfortable and warm! I requested a room near the lift and this was granted! The leisure centre was fabulous and the staff were so helpful and friendly! I would definitely go back!
A very nice

Just a very average hotel. The kids bedroom was freezing as a result my 4 years old slept in our bed with us and very little sleep was had. The pool space was small due to swilling lessons taking place
Room very clean and good breakfast. Bar needs an upgrade.
The meal we had was the worst meal in 20 years. Manager gave 30% off but really should have given 100% off
Great stay as always and the staff were brilliant thanks
Fantastic staff excellent atmosphere in the hotel can't wait to stay again..
Was lovely only fault ran out of hot water for shower on Sunday morning when hotel was busy
Was lovely only fault ran out of hot water for shower on Sunday morning when hotel was busy
Lovely time at this hotel with welcoming staff. The room was warm and we slept very well. The food we ate was quite good and the bar had a good variety of beer.
Thanks everyone from Eve an reservations Avril on reception Michael and Richard on night shift and to all in restaurant and leisure centre and to all the cleaning staff that keep hotel so clean .keep up good work and see ye all again
Hotel nice and clean breakfast very good staff lovely very impressed when I arrived something wrong with swimming pool but fixed very quickly and able to go for a swim that evening see ye again soon
This former mental hospital building is very impressive and it was worth the visit just to see it. The refurbishment of the interior is also impressive . Our stay there was very enjoyable and will visit there again.
Large hotel but good warm atmosphere Friendly staff Very good food at both dinner and breakfast Plenty of parking!! Will be back again
Staff was very friendly and polite. Hotel room very comfortable and clean, will be back
Love this hotel
Dissapointed with the room allocated as it had an interconnected door with the next room where there was a young baby and child .
This was a great hotel for a family stay. Lovely spacious room. Comfy beds. Pool was great and had an inflatable as a surprise. The little playroom and few arcade machines were a nice touch too. The food was gorgeous. Great buffet breakfast. The staff were so friendly. Lovely break away
Hotel located in a quiet area of the town, the only downside for breakfast the Orange Juice was Vile
Lovely two days for fathers day. Lovely clean hotel nice food pool and jaccuzi nice daughter loved it good place for kids.
Hotel really nice, room spacious, breakfast, and dinner, plenty of choice, staff very helpful, leisure centre, top class.
Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, amazing location. Breakfast to die for...????
Very clean efficient and friendly. Comfortable bed and wel equipped room. Hotel could do with a more intimate lounge or bar. BarSeating area very open and noisy. Recommended
An AMAZING Experience Staying at the Clayton, ALL of the Staff were so so Friendly and Helpful no matter what the query may have been. Can i give an Extra Special Shout out to Dario & Eva on Breakfast service, who go above and beyond to make your experience so Enjoyable and tasty THANK YOU all so much
Had a very pleasant stay in this hotel. Room bright spacious and very clean. Food was excellent. All of the staff very pleasant and helpful.
Very friendly and helpful staff
Very friendly and helpful staff
Friendly and welcoming Staff willing to do as much as they can to facilitate a truly comfortable stay. I was extremely impressed by the Quality of food and look forward to many more stays there x
Rooms were very poorly maintained had to approach reception twice third time asked for manager and then we had a nice 2 night stay breakfast has improved a lot since our last stay
Very pleasant stay, good food, nice swimming pool
Lovely hotel with helpful staff, stayed here with my family, food is lovely, the only thing is we would like to have been told the bar was closed for renovations when booking
Beautiful hotel very relaxing weekend food good service top class Will be back loved my break
Great hotel, fabulous room so spacious, clean, we will be back

We had a lovely couple of days here , staff were so good , breakfast had a nice selection, rooms were clean and we had a tasty evening meal in the bar
Staff was so friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious
Beautiful hotel. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Great service from all the staff, fantastic facilities including the crazy golf. A tent was in the room for my granddaughter to play in. We really enjoyed our stay and we will be back.
Absolutely fabulous hotel, great location, spotlessly clean, great selection of gluten free foods for our coeliac daughter, all staff are really nice and pleasant. The leisure centre is fantastic. Couldn’t recommend this hotel enough, this is our 7th or 8th time to stay here, we wouldn’t go anywhere else in Sligo
Beautiful hotel. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.
Very nice hotel only 5 min far from center (by car). Staff are nice, professional and friendly, comfortable room, nice breakfast and great swimming pool. All very clean.
Some biscuits in the room would be nice , couldn’t fault the Hotel and leisure Centre , excellent staff.
Fantastic food, staff and hotel. Rooms very spacious and clean. Menu was varied and reasonably priced. Plenty of variety at Brekfast. Special shout out to Shelia at reception and Darious in the breakfast room. 5*
Very nice hotel with really friendly staff and helpful staff. Nice food, lots of choice for breakfast.
Excellent service, staff very polite and attentive, breakfast slightly cold but other than that we had a very enjoyable stay with our three children
Great value package for mid term break, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, great food, great service, excellent well kept & clean facilities and kids area, we will definitely be back.
We were very pleased with the size of the room for a family of 4. Everything was very clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A fridge in the room was an added bonus. Breakfast and dinner were delicious. The only criticism I would have is that I feel guests should have been made aware that a large portion of the pool was taken up by (very noisy!) swimming lessons between 3 and 7pm so there wasn't a great deal of space. We would love to return again in the summer.
very pleasant, comfy beds, great breakfast, delicious sauages, all staff friendly and super clean
Very friendly and helpful staff - 5 stars for the staff!! Clean rooms. Breakfast was lovely.
Comfortable bedroom, excellent food and wonderful staff.
Fantastic weekend in this hotel. The staff were so friendly & accommodating. The only thing I'd say if your mobility isn't good to ask for a room near the lift. Our rooms were a good walk from the lifts. Breakfast was very good a great selection.
Lovely hotel. Friendly staff especially in the bar/restaurant. Dinner was really lovely in the bar and great cocktails. Kids menu could do with a dinner option with meat and veg. No complaints.
Lovely hotel. Friendly helpful staff and lovely fresh breakfast. Kids loved the games room.
Staff were very very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The bar and bistro was fabulous and you did not leave hungry. Rooms were very clean even if some had an unusual layout and were a bit worn in places. pool can be busy with families and kids which understandable but the spa was lovely and quiet.
The room was excellent according to our special requirements. The staff was friendly. The dinner was brilliant. It would be nice to have fish on the breakfast menu since the ocean is so close.
Great hotel, friendly staff and the meal was delicious. Great pool for the kids who didn't want to leave
heritage building good staff good food
great staff nice food really enjoyed our stay
Excellent only one issue I have is the hotel has no smoking area wit a cover has to stand in the rain for a cigarette. Apart from that brilliant hotel
Really had a great time there. Very smooth check in and check out. Huge room for 2 adults + 2 kids (3 & 2 yo). Great breakfast and had a great time in the pool. Would definitely come again. Worth the drive from Dublin
Had a brill stay. The staff were lovely an provided any help we needed. Would definitely stay near again. Nothing at all to complain about.
Nice place for stay with children, good staff.
Definitely not a 4 star hotel. The toilet paper was a disgrace, reminded me of greaseproof paper! No complimentary toiletries in bathroom, no hook/rail for hand towel. Very hard to avoid splashing water outside of bath adjusting shower & accessing soap. Pressure/shower head was terrible. Staff were friendly. I lost coins in vending machine, was never offered a refund.
Staff pleasent, hotel was lovely and food was delicious
Hotel very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms a good size and very clean. Reasonable price. Only downside of visit was availability of swimming pool due to covid 19 restrictions, Would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends.
Nice hotel and rooms, staff very friendly. Will be much better when covid restrictions are lifted
Staff were lovely.Rooms spotless and beds so comfy.Breakfast perfect
Lovely Hotel , staff, food and over all stay was perfect for two night break away.
Excellent hotel, staff are fantastic
The hotel is situated on beautiful grounds with an old church. We were made feel so welcome on arrival, the staff are so pleasant and friendly. The rooms were beautiful, on opening the door you entered a small hall with the bathroom and bedroom leading of it. Which lead to a very quiet stay. We booked for BB&D on both nights and the food was plentiful and well served in the bar of the hotel. Overall a wonderful relaxing stay was had. We would definitely recommend this fabulous hotel.
Loved this hotel from the minute we entered the reception. The receptionist was so pleasant and gave us our room even though we were a little early to check in. Our room had an external door leading into a small hall with a bathroom and bedroom leading of it. The double doors meant our room was so quiet. The bathroom was lovely, with the shower over the bath (personally I'm not a lover of this). The bedroom was large. Our package consisted of BB & 2 course evening meal with tea or
Excellent staff very polite and helpful rooms very clean would stay again .
We had a lovely stay recently and the staff, food, and bedrooms, were of the highest quality. With covid, booking everything in advance is a bit of a pain, especially with very young kids, but I suppose this will be common practice in future. The only negative is there isnt much for older kids to do on site, maybe they could utilise the huge front piece of grass and put up some goals etc, which would be a huge hit with most kids. Bargain breaks are brilliant to deal with, always keeping me up to date with information so thanks for that.
Excellent hotel with great service throughout the hotel
Would not recommend as needs upgrade, vary the food menus, house keeping not great, rooms feel like prison as can’t look out to high up the window frame, Reception staff were just okay, Restaurant floor staff were excellent best thing about the holiday
Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and efficient. Plenty of choice for breakfast, big hotel, but felt very homely. Would gladly recommend it and will definitely return.
We had a lovely 2 night stay in the Clayton Sligo. Every effort was made by staff to ensure our stay was as enjoyable and as safe as possible. I would definitely recommend this hotel, it’s a great base to enjoy everything the county has to offer.

Amazing staff throughout the hotel, so attentive, friendly and professional. Hotel has great facilities and very clean, adhering to all Covid regulations. Breakfast and evening dinner was fabulous

The staff were some nice and helpful really lovely hotel and great for kid as I seen when I stayed

Lovely hotel. Lovely staff and great for all age groups. Kids loved the pool table and air hockey.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Exceptional staff throughout the hotel. Rooms are huge and very clean. Highly recommend. Would definitely stay here again
Lovely helpful staff will be back again
really enjoyed our stay hotel staff were very nice would definitely go back food was fab too thanks for lovely time
Amazing hotel, stunning! The staff are so nice and helpful! So polite and can not do enough for you. Would highly reccomend this hotel!
Staff very professional, helpful and friendly. Food in restaurant delicious. Very good value for money.
We had a fantastic time, the hotel staff accommodated our group for all our requests. The deal we got was amazing value!! Thanks a mill, we even managed to get out out to a seated niteclub!!
Beautiful hotel really impressive. Staff could not be more helpful and friendly. Great pool . Overall super stay and will be back again.
Absolutely fantastic stay at the hotel for my sisters birthday. The staff were all wonderful . Especially the young lad with a beard working in the bar/restaurant he was super friendly and helpful unfortunately we didn't get his name. But well done to all staff trying to work with all the restrictions it cannot be easy for them but they made our weekend. We will certainly be back again.
We chose Sligo initially for it's very low covid case numbers. We were not disappointed. The Clayton on Sligo was just perfect. We felt very safe there, social distancing, mask wearing and sanitisation were right up to the mark in the hotel. Apart from that the bedrooms, breakfasts and dinners were great. We had dinner on two evenings. Pool was super too as were the staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

excellent stay at the Clayton. Very Friendly staff and great service.
Fabulous hotel with fantastic staff!!! We chose this hotel because it’s whete we got married and it holds special memories for us. We stayed here for my sons Communion day treat and it certainly was a treat. The staff went to great lengths to make the day special for our son. When we arrived to our room they had left a beautiful display of desserts with Congratulations on the plate and a note to wish him a lovely day and when we ate our dinner a special dessert arrived for my son from the chef! We found that the hotel was exceptional in adhering to health protocols and everything was spotless. We will definitely be returning here again.
Excellent Hotel, Staff were brilliant, A special thanks to Aldo, Michaela and Sarah who made us feel very welcome and looked after us really well. Will definitely be back. Kind regards Tommy and Mary Jo
Very nice hotel and very friendly staff
The hotel is in a good location. The grounds are nice except the mini golf could be updated. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely presented and staff looked after us for my daughters birthday.Overall we did enjoy ourselves and the staff in the leisure centre looked after us for the swimming really well too. Out only downfall would be the room was very basic so we were not too impressed with this and the booking system to even have a drink was not good as the bar was used for food only and the lobby was self service due to under staffing after the lifting of restrictions.
Very nice hotel, we had a good big room with a lovely comfortable bed and a view of the mountains. The staff were excellent from the receptionist to the waiting staff, so friendly and helpful. There was lots of hand sanitizing stations and we felt safe as everyone was wearing face coverings and social distancing was very evident. Unfortunately the evening meal I chose (chicken curry) was not of great quality and the side order of rice was dried out so badly it was inedible. The sticky toffee pudding was really nice and I could recommend it.
very nice service great location. tasty food
Very welcoming Receptionists on arrival. Speedy check-in and out. Cannot comment on leisure centre as did not use - will avail on it next time we stay there. Good food. Very enjoyable stay and will bring the kids when returning.
A hotel with lots of character, friendly and efficient staff and good food.
Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food great. Could do with gluten free menu.

Staff very friendly and welcoming. Food great.
We were given a list of Covid restrictions on arrival...had we received them prior to our arrival, we would have cancelled our booking. Room not cleaned during our 3 night stay. Expected to change bedding ourselves and put used towels outside room. Plastic/paper cups in room. Dishwasher would clean cups/glasses effectively. No toiletries as promised on website. No restaurant as promised on website. No guarantee of getting a table for dinner due to lack of seating in bar area. Very slow service at 'dinner' and breakfast due to small number of staff on duty. No provision made for residents. Overall, very disappointing and definitely not 4 star.
The staff were as good and as friendly as I've ever come across. They are a credit to themselves and their managers. Lovely hotel and the food was excellent. Will be back!
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was perfectly clean and comfortable. The shower was a bit faulty. It was difficult to fix the temperature. We found the menu rather boring as it was always the same.
Very good hotel.huge room .food very good.staff and management friendly.excelkent valu.highly recommend this hotel.
Excellent hotel. Staff friendly. Food delicious. A little outside the town
Lovely stay at the Clayton Sligo. The food was top Notch in the fabulous restaurant. Would highly recommend this hotel.

From the moment we arrived we were met by a manager named joe he showed us to our room and made sure everything was ok and from then on our stay was brilliant staff were brilliant food was great and all precautions for covid 19 were brilliant
Had a great time, felt very safe. Food was lovely and staff were fantastic. Would recommend it for a relax.
Really enjoyed the break and felt very safe. Staff were great, really helpful and friendly. Food was great and the staff in the bar, which is the dining area at the moment, couldn't have done more to make our trip enjoyable. Will definitely be back.
Food was just ok. Hotel very understaffed, although staff were very friendly & really doing their best.
Lovely hotel. Great food. Very attentive staff and a special thank you to Chris for saving the day...
Great experience. Online check is very good. Excellent service and staff. Quality of food excellent. Great location.
We were very pleased with how the hotel demonstrated the guidelines. We were very comfortable in the dining room and the swimming pool. Your staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Looking forward to revisiting you soon
The hotel was very good as were the staff and the food was excellent would definitely stay again soon
Good location lovely grounds foyer spacious. Rooms very comfortable and clean loads of space. Staff extremely helpful food was good also breakfast now full table service plenty of choice. Enjoyed stay very much.
Lovelt Hotel & very friendly and helpful staff. Joseph and Chole stood put the most with their outstanding customer service. Food was lovely we ate there 3 of 4 nights. Leisure centre was very nice. Pool area was warm which was great as we had a 1yr old with is so he wasn't cold getting out of the pool. Only a few minutes from the town. Where it was easy to get parking. Would defo be going back.
Couldn’t give a 5* review as because of covid there was no atmosphere in restaurant or bar, and swimming pool needed appointment so couldn’t just go relax in pool whenever you like. Staff very nice and food good.
Lovely Hotel...Lovely staff and ideal for sightseeing and touring the area, incl the fab Rosses Point. Great breakfast included. Will return.
Lovely hotel with friendly staff
We had fantastic time.Hotel staff was amazing and very helpful.Nice swimming pool. Delicious food (we loved chicken curry and duck salad ) Highly recommended to everyone ????
Have no faults with our stay at the Clayton hotel. Very clean and the staff were friendly and helpfull. Food in the bar was gorgeous and plenty of it. Would def book another stay here again.

A lovely friendly, efficient hotel. A very well organized system at the pool, making it feel totally safe.
Lovely hotel covid 19 complaint friendly staff bar area where food is served could do with an urgent update breackfast servex at the table in the restraunt is 100 times better than their usual buffet dinndr in the restraunt was lovely.
Enjoyed stay. Staff very helpful. Breakfasts very good. Dinner package a bit limited for choice of menus.
Hotel is spotlessly clean, staff friendly and food very good. Hotel run in a very safe way during these strange times. Food service in bar excellent but breakfast service is extremely poor. Service slow, all over the place and lacking leadership. Hopefully this will improve as staff become more familiar with the new ways of working in these difficult times.
Good location with nice and bright airy rooms. The staff are what make it an even more amazing stay, really couldn’t have done more for us. Would definitely highly recommend it for this reason.
The staff at the Clayton Sligo were wonderful especially given the current circumstances we find ourselves in. They were friendly but professional and made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. As our trip was primarily to see family we will definitely be back to Sligo and will stay here again.

Had a lovely stay. The staff rooms and location was excellent. Very clean hotel and the food was fabulous!!! The girls in the restaurant were so professional and our evening meal was amazing! Would definitely recommend! Well done to a great team in the clayton.
Very nice hotel. Have all the measures to deal with Cov 19 in place but dose not interfere with your stay. Food very good both for breakfast and dinner.

Amazing staff and hotel, can't fault it.
Hotel is very comfortable and roomy, staff are friendly and helpful. We were a bit restricted due to Covid regulations or having to book all meals and sauna etc was not open.

In the height of anxieties of covid and openings of hotels this hotel was amazing, all procedures in place, hotel was very clean, staff wore face shields and at breakfast the staff were fantastic and a pleasure which made our stay very secure and reassuring. Bedroom had special highlighted stickers to show that the room had been cleaned prior. Reception person was very helpful in explaining how to book for breakfast and dinner on the website that was provided in paper format. Dining was socially designed and distancing was in place to a very high standard. We didn’t use pool or gym as was out sightseeing and had no time but again it was communicated on procedures of booking to a very professional standard. Breakfast was explained throughly about the menu choices as I was at first baffled as whether I’d had to pick a cold breakfast or a hot breakfast but it was explained that this was not the case and order was taken by staff and delivered to the table very professional.
Fine Hotel, good food. pleasant staff.
Very well organised, good social distancing, breakfast was lovely as was dinner. Great location, will definitely be back.
Myself, husband and two young children enjoyed a two night stay here recently. We were conscious that the hotel had just reopened and had introduced new Covid-19 safety and operational practices. We were well informed about these in advance of our stay and were advised to book time slots for dining and for using the leisure centre. From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and relaxed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and all areas were sanitised regularly. The food was excellent with great choice at breakfast. I couldn’t recommend this hotel highly enough.
beds on wheels very dangerous as when you sit on edge it move away from you. Needs fixing ASAP flagged to reception got impression not listening. Hotel management I suggest you fix ASAP
I have never being in a hotel where the staff have being so pleasant and accommodating, well done to them.
The worse service I’ve recieved in a hotel in a long time, the breakfast was cold, first morning the fry came out cold it was almost ten minutes after we got our breakfast that we got our toast and condiments for the table despite asking a few times, so as you can imagine a cold served breakfast by this stage was inedible, we complained to the manager that night who seemed helpful and was present for breakfast the next morning but it was just as bad, the orders taken were wrong again the eggs like rubber and cold too, having a discussion with the manager was pointless he stood there with his arms folded like a petulant child, a shame really because it’s a nice hotel but the small things are what make you want to go back and this hotel failed, we had meals included in our stay but still ate elsewhere.
Wonderful hotel. Spacious family suite with two bedrooms. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Definitely more staff needed as due to covid restrictions they were extremely busy but managed to please guests with a smile. Will definitely return.

Staff very friendly & professional meals excellent
Where do i start . This is and should be rated 5 star. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left the courtesy of every member of staff was far exceeded our expectations. The food both dinner and breakfast is second to none wiukd like
Family break stayed in family room 3 off us great size when travelling with a young child. Staff very friendly. Child friendly hotel. Food couldn't fault it decent portion size par under cooked vegetables on 2 separate nights . Staff in bar not aware off tea and coffee part off meal deal. That probably down to lack off training regarding vouchers for the meal deal. We previously stayed there few years ago definitely will be back again in the near future.
Lovely hotel, very friendly staff, nothing was ever a problem, we had dinner and breakfast and they food was really good, the room was comfortable and clean.. We had not been before but will be back for sure,, highly recommended..
Very disappointed extra money was requested on checkout. They also refused to give our tea and coffee at the evening meal. Evening meal choices weren’t fantastic. Breakfast was very good.
Excellent treatment by all the staff during our stay ,where nothing but courtesy and helpfulness where the experience of our stay.Cleanliness of room above standard so all in all a very positive two day break with food also of a better than average quality.
Lovely hotel ,great location The staff were lovely and couldnt do enough for you .We dont have children but noticed that the hotel were very child friendly . The food was delicious breakfast very good .Second time we have stayed there and both times we were not disappointed
Staff were brilliant. I couldn't ask another thing of them and the hotel from top to bottom was really clean. The food however really let them down. Maybe it was just our weekend but the managers kept having to apologise for the kitchens. But you get what you pay for and it was an amazing deal. I'll happily stay there again.
friendly ,helpful staff. 5star
Had a fantastic time start to finish rooms brilliant food lovely. Kids club and swimming pool was great our 2 boys loved everything about them. Will definiely be back again. Staff couldnt do enough. Best hotel ive been in too with our boys. Goodie bags for them when we arrived also.
Staff were lovely! Food was first class!! Really enjoyed our stay
The hotel and grounds were very impressive. Accommodation was clean and modern. The staff were friendly and very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The food in the restaurant and in the bar was very tasty will all plates cleared. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Found the hotel lovely and clean and very child friendly. Although the weather was poor there was still plenty to do. Kids loved the crazy golf, swimming pool, pool table and family table quiz. Food was lovely and reasonably priced as was the price of a pint of lager which at a fiver was very good. Aaron even got to take part in a soccer camp with Sligo Rovers which was thrilled with. Would love to visit again when the weather is better to see what sights Sligo has to offer.
Very nice. Comfy, clean room. Very good breakfast. All good
Stayed in the hotel for two nights, we had an excellent meal in the restaurant on one of the nights which was faultless all be it there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it. Room was clean and hotel is well located and staff all very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Breakfast was also very good with a great selection as well. We will definitely be back, the leisure facilities are also good. Thanks for the great experience.
Beautiful hotel, lovely room and comfy bed, we enjoyed a great meal on both evenings, would recommend
Really enjoyed our stay and will come back. The bar needs work though
we stayed for one night B&B + dinner, booked a family room the room was very spacious and comfortable. breakfast was plentiful and variety of fruit ,cereal or fry up. Dinner was a bit of a disappointment there was hardly any choice on the menu including desserts and the portions very small. There wasn't any atmosphere at the Hotel considering the night we stayed was St Stephens night. The receptionist at first couldn't find our booking on the hotel system but was very helpful throughout our stay and arranged that the camp bed that was put in to our room for one the children was changed to a proper bed when requested. Overall it was OK but i would not book this Hotel again.
An extremely pleasant hotel to deal with - after a slight hiccup on the booking we were upgrade to a one bedroomed suite which was very impressive for our 2 night break. I would definitely recommend the hotel and the staff to anyone considering a hotel in Sligo - Thanks guys :)
lovely hotel. Breakfast was its only downfall. Food was not great and not a huge selection. Great family hotel and the family suites are perfect, lots of space.
Didn't like this hotel at all. Rooms were old, shower was weak, hairdryer in room was missing the top part and the top of the hairdryer was melted!! The hallway was eerie as were the bedrooms. Breakfast was nice. Staff were nice. Overall, the hotel needs a massive renovation. Giggled when I read afterwards that it was recently renovated!! Maybe the reception area but that's about it in my opinion. Given a room when we checked in waaaaay down the hallway, felt like we had been walking for 10 mins, it was so dreary, felt like we were put in there because we got a package deal. I immediately phoned reception and asked for a room change, eventually we were moved to a bedroom at the front of the hotel (still not a great room). Will definitely not be returning to this hotel - old and eerie....even the driveway...
Lovely hotel in quiet gardened setting. All staff where very pleasant and attentive. Room was large and clean. Breakfast excellent, evening meal although limited in choice was well presented, substantial and flavoursome. Didn't make use of spa, large well appointed gym or pool but they look excellent. Hoping to return soon for longer stay.
Was very happy with hotel as location was great regarding my visit hotel room was good breakfast was good to suit people diet requirements had lunch in bar was very good we did not get to use the leisure facility will travel again with longer stay hopefully esther
very enjoyable stay at the Clarion Hotel Sligo, the receptionist at check in was very efficient, however lacked the Irish warm welcome, this may be due to the fact that both receptionists were foreign nationals. Evening meal in the restaurant was excellent, we were served by a lovely, friendly young waitress called Ciara, who was both chatty and efficient. the bedroom was quite nice, , the beds were very comfortable, the bedroom had a lovely high ceiling, and was not hot or stuffy, unlike many hotels I have stayed in, the corridors and bedrooms could do with a little updating, the reception area very nice, overall a very pleasant stay, and I will return again in the near future
THE MOST RELAXING HOTEL, EVER! We had a lovely time whilst staying in this fine hotel. The spacious room was just perfect, especially with a child. We found your beds to be the comfiest we've had while staying in a hotel. We found your hotel, in general to be relaxing. We will definitely recommend you to family and friends. A glowing review on TripAdvisor shall be left. Kindest regards, B.Gallagher
We had a lovely two night stay here with our two toddlers. The hotel rang us 2 days in advance to say the hotel pool was not available during our stay which was disappointing at first but the weather was lovely so we spent most of the time outdoors. We were also upgraded to a suite upon arrival which was a nice surprise. The staff were extremely friendly esp at reception and bar/restaurant. It is a good walk into town. we had a car so this wasn't an issue. Its a short drive to Strandhill beach and Knocknarea, which are both beautiful. We had a great break here, really enjoyed our stay at the Clarion too
We stayed for two nights and very much enjoyed The Clarion Hotel. We found the staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The meals were very good and served by attentive staff. Our stay covered Sunday and Monday and would have liked some kind of night activity. Perhaps more happens at weekends. Would stay there again and would recommend it to friends and especially with family with young children.
my partner booked this for us as a night free from baby for birthday. Love the hotel staff very friendly from moment we checked in with Hildea to been serives dinner and drinks later by Trevor. rooms are fab and we notices that the hotel is a very kid friendly hotel. would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone
Staff were nice. Breakfast was really good. Room was a very long walk from reception! At 3am the TV from room next door could be heard clearly as could a phone conversation at 9am. There was a locked inter-connecting door but had NO sound proofing! Heating was not on in the room, we had to turn radiator on ourselves when we came home after dinner. Water was brown, which came clear after we ran it for a while. This is just nature and is fine with us but maybe reception could tell you this when you check in!! Waitress knew nothing about the Lidl meal deal, we had to tell her what was included etc. Overall, if the room had heating on before we arrived and we got a quieter room closer to reception I would stay here again.
Food and accomadation OK. Noisy guests outside hotel's control, but better sound proofing to corridors would be nice. Bar is managed weirdly, several times we went in and there were no chairs, even though there was plenty of space; eventually I asked why and was told all the chairs had been moved into carvery. If they want to sell drink, they need to buy more chairs. 2 stars reflects bar & ambience, staff and location are good, but imposing looking exterior undermined by general lack of comfort if you are staying more than a few hours.
Really good hotel, friendly and helpful staff and perfect for a few days away. The hotel is well placed to explore the interesting environs around Sligo, and of course the city itself. The Clarion is very accessible, and in a fantastic building (it's a pity they don't feature the history of the building). Rooms are reasonably sized and laid out, the view towards the rere features the functional roof of the conference centre, but the vista of Ben Bulben more than compensates. For travel into Sligo, it is a 20 minute walk, or if you want to avoid taking the car, the frequent and welcoming S1 and S2 bus routes pass by the hotel entrance and offer a good option. Breakfast is relaxed and plentiful with all requirements catered for. The leisure centre is well equipped with a nice pool and facilities. Top marks to all, would recommend it.
Great family hotel. We booked in as 2 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby. We were upgraded to a suite with large living area and separate bedroom with double and single room. Food great, service great, can't fault it at all. Will definitely be back.
Nice hotel, lovely grounds, friendly staff. The room was spacious, clean and warm and the pool area was perfect for children. What let the hotel down was the quality of the food. Mass produced frozen veg, chips, fish fingers, etc.. is not good enough in a 4 star hotel. The "hot" breakfast food was cold, even the tea, and the continental breakfast could have had a better selection. Disappointing as the rest of the hotel experience was quite good.
Very good hotel for the price we paid. Food was lovely and staff were excellent.
Great hotel, staff very helpful and polite!! Would definitely stay here again.
Hotel fine staff very friendly .room good size. Close to town . Negatives thin door between rooms could hear people talking next door but not a big problem. Are main courses at night were all over cooked. But would return. Rating 3 star
Lovely hotel and staff but the restaurant was very poor. The menu was very limited. I would never eat here again especially not for an evening meal. Signs on it was deadly quiet! . Could do with tablecloth and some simple table dressing for the evening. Menu needs to be extended considerable. It's a shame as staff were fab and room lovely.
Had a lovely stay. Very helpful staff, large, clean and well appointed rooms. Leisure facilities clean and family friendly. Breakfast perhaps only area with room for improvement. Hope to return in future.
I have stayed in the Clarion before and would always go back, Thanks to all the staff from reception to restaurant and also the wonderful JJ in the lounge for his great singing and made us so welcome.
Hotel was lovely, great deal. Food was absolutely fab on Saturday night, duck starter was excellent.
Words could nt describe...... It was outstanding staff fantastic, room brilliant, and food out if this world, will defo be back.
the Clarion Hotel is ideal to stay in. it was welcoming and warm as we arrived on a cold evening, the staff are friendly and helpful.
Check in staff were very friendly.Room was warm and clean. Staff in Event Centre were friendly and hard-working. Lovely grounds and imagine it would be lovely in summer time.
How this is a 4* is beyond me. Small rooms, old fixtures and fittings, generally grubby and unclean hallways and surfaces throughout.
Friendly helpful and welcoming staff at reception. We were upgraded to a suite for my partners birthday which was a really pleasant surprise. The restaurant and bar staff were helpful & polite. The member of staff in the pool area not so efficient. Kept us standing waiting for 10minutes whilst chatting then again for a further 5 after we returned. Overall we enjoyed our stay will return and would recommend
We stayed here from the 21-24 Sept on the 3 nights with breakfast and dinner included. We considered it to a reasonably priced deal. Unfortunately the dinners were very disappointing. You were limited to one page on the dinner menu with very few choices and the food was not of good standard. The breakfast was great in contrast to the dinner. The room and hotel itself was lovely. If we were to stay again we would only do bed & breakfast.
Our experience of the Clarion Hotel - overall - was very positive. The hotel itself is well appointed. The room was spacious and clean ( except for the remains of biscuit on sitting-room floor). The evening meal was fine, if a little mean with vegetables. ( no more than one mushroom sliced wafer-thin, with slightly under-cooked onion). Breakfast offered a very full range to suit all guests. Special mention must be made of a young lady in the dining room who was extremely helpful and pleasant. (Daniela) A member of staff whose function we are not sure of was a great ambassador for the hotel. She provided very useful advice on places of interest to visit, and she displayed a great local knowledge. She went out of her way to get us maps, and spent time charting the route for us. (Cliodhnna O'Carroll) The leisure facilities were first class too. We spoke to the manager about our initial, negative experience. The receptionist on duty on our arrival told us she could not find a booking in our name. She asked how we had booked. When I told her it was through Today FM she told me that they did not do bookings with a radio station. Fortunately, I had my laptop with me and was able to show her the confirmation email. While this was going on, she kept her eyes fixed on her computer, without ever making eye contact. She advised us that they had no availability on the second night of our stay. During that very short time I was in a very confused state of wondering what to do. Then without any explanation - much less an apology - she said that our room number was such and such. I asked what the problem had been. Again, she remained fixed on her screen and said that we weren't on their system. I was shocked and offended by such a poor treatment - and by the lack of nous in the hospitality sector. Quite glad it happened to me rather than to one of the many visitors to our shores.
On arrival although the booking system was down the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We had to walk a long, long way to our room which was big and airy but warm and comfortable. The toilet seat was cracked and the shower was lukewarm. We reported this and the seat was changed and the shower was worked on. There was a temporary slight improvement but then reverted to lukewarm for the remainder of the stay and we could not use it. There was a good variety of food for breakfast but was like the shower lukewarm. I have great difficulty in believing that this is a 4-star hotel.
Reception staff excellent - Bedroom was big bright and comfortable. Breakfast was poor -difficult to get tea, cooked food was cold on cold plates , by the third day the idea of a hot breakfast had lost its appeal. We got a good evening meal on our first evening with good service. I would not return to this hotel not a four star in reality Jerry O Dea 3 star at best
Our stay at The Clarion Hotel in Sligo was most enjoyable. There were five of us sharing two rooms. One triple room had been updated to a suite at no exrta cost. We found both the breakfast and evening dinner excellent. The staff were extremely obliging and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Stayed on 2 night dinner bed and breakfast. Hotel is very dated. Two single beds pushed together . Door handles falling off the doors .. Dinner included in our rate was awful , everything we ordered had a supplement and did not taste nice .. I think the chef bought everything frozen from lidl or Aldi .. Bar food in kudos was not much better .. Plates at breakfast were dirty both mornings .. However the staff were friendly , overall thou was very dissapointing !
One night midweek stay with dinner and breakfast.Large clean rooms, good food ,pleasant staff, ample parking.Long walk to rooms only minor niggle.
lovely hotel, rooms very spacious, staff friendly. Good shopping just a short drive away. qiuet atmosphere especially midweek.
Room was spacious and clean . Food was not good , tried the resturant and bar . Staff were generaly helpful and friendly .
good location for town with plenty of parking. Large room with 2 beds for children and nice quiet room. Looking a little shabby decor wise around the corridors, with the highly pungent shakn'vac smell, breakfast average, Pool a plus. Plenty of space for families and roomy for meal times.
best hotel we have stayed inn over the years really enjoyed our stay food was tops so enjoyable thanks to all your staff
Great break, Family room very spacious. Friendly staff and food was great. Really looking forward to going back Highly recommed this hotel for familys
We got upgraded to aq suite by a lovely blonde receptionist-Polish I think-with an infectious smile. She was so helpful in everything as we arrived late. Got a seat in dinning room after a wait which we didn't mind as the restaurant was full with a coach tour. Food was excellent and we loved our stay there. Alot of children running about in the bar/ foyer area but other than that no complaints. We will definitely come back especially after the lovely welcome from the friendly Polish girl on reception.
Lovely big hotel, lots of room and facilities. Bedrooms perfect for family of four. Only negatives were there was no kids club in the evenings as advertised on the website - storytelling or movie. There are lots of children staying at the hotel so would have been nice to give them something to do in the evening rather than play football in the hotel reception area! Also, we had a 2 course meal included in our package but most of the starters, main courses & desserts, you had to pay extra supplements on! The crazy golf course very run down - needs some attention. Lastly, the plates at breakfast time were not very clean. Overall nice stay, staff very good, food lovely but prefer the clarion hotel in liffey valley.
This was my second time staying in the Clarion Sligo, also through Lidl Breaks, and it's likely that I was remembered as a 'repeat customer' because I was allocated a suite at no extra charge. It may have been a plan on their part, as I am now telling everyone how impressed I was with my room. It is bigger than most two bed flats, with a separate dining room/kitchen, never mind the huge bedroom with two beds (1 single, 1 double). I was in town for a workshop in Sligo IT, but I would go back with family just because of the space! I needed quiet for study, and I had that. Location wise, it is a bit far to walk into town, but it's 8 min walk to the front door of the college. The breakfast was included in my room rate and it was a full buffet of good food. Don't expect flat screen tvs though-the old 90s ones are still working away in the rooms. I'm told the restaurant food is good, and I know the bar service was good. I would recommend this hotel.
Stayed one night, hotel was quite quiet but that was ok for us as we had a toddler with us. Had meal in bar & a few drinks and breakfast in morning and no complaints at all. Room was big with good sized living area. Pool was good . When leaving next morning on way to Galway we even tried to book to stay here on way home again but unfortunately fully booked. Overall great stay and would have no hesitations about staying again.
Very happy with our family 2 night bargain-break stay. Spacious room, with decent quality beds for our two children (one single bed, one camp bed). Staff friendly and helpful. Food good, and not overly expensive. Great value overall. Kids loved the pool. No entertainment provided for kids, or music in bar, but not an issue for us.
Hotel was absolutely lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We got upgraded to a suite and the room was fantastic. Use of the spa/swimming pool was great and the breakfast was tasty. The only negative was the dinner, which was part of our deal. The food was not very good but otherwise we had a brilliant stay.
The hotel was great, we got upgraded to a suite on arrival the staff were lovely and the food was great. The only downside it need a bit of a face lift 1door the lock was broke and there was badly patch up plaster work in the bathroon
Excellent experience staff very helpful and friendly. Food excellent. Complimentary room upgrade was a big surprise what a treat!
Absolutely gorgeous hotel and we upgraded to a suite which was very spacious with kitchenette an bedroom separate. Pool and leisure facilities where great for the children. Breakfast was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful . Would recommend this hotel and I would return again.
One complaint. A School Debs should not have been booked into a hotel that is selling itself as a Family Hotel.
stay was for three nights hotel was good room clean staff very friendly and helpful food in general a big let down had dinner two nights in the restaurant awful on both nights for that reason we would not go back.ps stay was for 23june
We had a wonderful stay in this hotel and found the staff most helpful and friendly. Would most definitely stay there again
We stayed for a weekend breakaway in a triple room the hotel, staff and food were excellent, I would highly recommend the hotel and we will definitely stay again.
On arrival the hotel looked very impressive .we had requested a room with a walk in shower for my wife's elderly and partially disabled parents.when rooms where allocated this was not a walk in shower as requested and our own room was linked to the room next door due to this we could hear every word and movement of the guests next door.on speaking to reception they where very good in rectifying this with a room that had a walk in shower and another room for us although the rooms where a lot further apart as we would have liked to be of more assistance to my wife's parents.THE EVENING MEALS.the menu stayed the same every night with the same choice of food so on speaking to the restaurant manager he said he would let us choose some food from the bar menu that helped a little bit but not ideal.finaly on check out our bill was almost double what it should have been and we had to go through all the bills to rectify this.the facilities in the hotel and staff where all very good the pool sauna excellent very good as was the breakfast we would most likely stay here again with a few things ironed out
Brilliant stay. Very child friendly.!! The leisure centre was ideal for young children. As for valuee for money, it Could not be beaten. Will be returning:)
It was awful. Bad service in the restaurant, the bar was so dirty with dirty plates and bar glasses. Had ordered room service but it still hadn't arrived by 10:45 so had to go down to the restaurant where there was barely any breakfast left and no staff to get tea or toast. Staff, and especially management were rude and just wanted to pretend that problems didn't exist. Will never go back again.
Great hotel clean tidy staff are very good. Restaurant is good not great all in all a 7 out of ten
Up Side - Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful Down Side - our room was pretty small, we were hammed into it, it took four calls to reception to get a travel cot into our room, our room was miles from reception and we had to go up to the first floor walk down a long corridor to take another lift to basement level, walk down another long corridor with three small kids to get to and from our room, which was a royal pain in the arse. The kids swimming pool had alot of grit in the bottom it. We stayed there over the easter holidays and the hotel was packed to the gills, which you;d expect but the hotel didn;t seem to be prepared for the numbers, the queues for breakfast were horrendous every morning. All in all I wouldn't recommend this hotel and won;t be going back
Lovely hotel-very clean and spacious rooms.Very suitable for families and all age groups.Food in bar is very tasty and reasonable in price.Staff at reception are very efficient and helpful.Good parking facilities.Hotel is a little outside the town so would need your car.Our room was near the lift and was quite noisy-so make sure to get a quite room.We have stayed here twice and loved this hotel.
Great Hotel - would highly recommend. We stayed here 3 nights over Easter and enjoyed an evening meal in the restaurant. Staff are friendly and helpful and we were upgraded to a suite which was excellent - spacious and fully equipped. Food was of a high standard with plenty of variety. We hope to return again soon.
Very good value for a family stay of 2 adults and 2 children for 1 night. professional staff and great facilities.
Had a fantastic experience at the Clarion Hotel in Sligo. All the staff were so friendly. Our two children really enjoyed the movie club and storyline at night. They really loved the staff minding them ad were well looked afterI.I would highly recommend this hotel to any family looking for a few nights away.
Noise level from corridor very loud
Great break at the Clarion Hotel Sligo. The break was excellent value. We really enjoyed our stay and made the most of the facilities. We had a meal on the Saturday night and the food was fab. Will definitely be back.
Visited the Clarion in March for a Wedding Anniversary weekend, and we were upgraded to a suite based on the information we provided at booking time. Nice touch. The hotel is very impressive from the outside, and that follows throughout the hotel. The suite was lovely, although the view was of the air ducts on the roof. The inclusive dinner menu had a lot of supplements, so be prepared to pay up to 10 Euro extra for a steak. The food was fine, except that it wasn't hot. Breakfast was good, with a lot of choice from the buffet. The swimming pool was good, and not too busy. There's also a well equipped gym. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from Sligo town centre, where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The Swagman on Wine Street has a great selection of beers and a good menu - try the Ribs! Glencar Waterfall, about 10Kms from the hotel is well worth a visit, as is Strandhill with it's long beach. All in all, a very nice hotel in a nice location.
Beautiful hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, really enjoyed our stay, fantastic value for money, will definitely book again
Nice Hotel, Have been there several times before. Meal was included in my package and was lovely. will be back again. karen
lovely hotel .. staff could do with a smile .. in the dining room.. need taxi back to your room. but apart from that it is nice
I use lidl breaks all the time for short breaks and I had a lovely time in the clarion hotel sligo. We stayed paddys weekend for 2 nites with meals included. The food was delicious both breakfast and dinner and the staff are very helpful. Great selection on the menu and under 2's eat free (€5 for under 12's for breakfast) and dinner is priced accordinally eg soup €2 and main I think €5. Great service and great craic. I have 2 young children 4 & 1 so I requested a suite which has an additional charge of €30 per nite but really well worth it, they have a small kitchenette with microwave, small fridge and crockery, Hugh space with 2 seperate rooms for them to move about. 10min drive to sligo town. Thank you clarion hotel sligo for such a lovely stay and I will be back. The reason I didn't give 5* because the rooms are a little dated.
We tried first the Clarion Hotel in Limerick and it was great. This time we choose the Clarion Hotel in Sligo and had a good time with the kids, we enjoyed the swimming pool, we got a suite as the family room were all booked so we had lot of space and a TV in each room...great for the kids in the evening. My only concern would be on Saturday evening, the choice of Menu to eat is limited...the expensive restaurant or the sandwich menu in the Kudos...we ended up with sandwiches that were not amazing at all... Otherwise the breakfast is amazing and very testy, lot of choice. 5 minutes drive to town by taxi so great location. Very nice staff and beautiful building. We will definitely do it again .
The Clarion Hotel is a newly refurbished hotel .We booked a family room and were delighted when we arrived to find a doublle bed and in an adjoining room without a door a bed for our son a table and chairs fridge t.v. etc. I would have described it as a suite at no extra charge .We only had to pay for our sons dinner and breakfast which was very reasonable. The hotel was very busy and the staff on the whole were very pleasant .The Manager in the restaurant could have been more pleasant and they got our dinner order wrong so my husband had to wait a while fo his dinner to arrive . Overall I Would recommend this hotel as it was spotless and the food was good .
Hotel absolutely fabulous, staff friendly and helpful. Rooms couldn't be nicer... Will definetly be returing. Fantastic value, you would pay more for a B&B and not have half the comforts.
The facilities and meals were of the highest standard. All the staff went out of their way to ensure that my visit was a most pleasant experience. Terence Kavanagh
Enjoyed our stay in the Clarion with our 2 grandchildren. Very poor menu in the restaurant for children , and the bar restaurant closed which was a pity as the menu in the bar looked better. We did enjoy our meal in the restaurant on the first night, and would have liked the bar food on the 2nd night but alas we had to go downtown. Breakfast was poor also, food was cold. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the leisure centre was great with friendly staff there also. Room was very comfortable and spacious.
Simply a wonderful hotel, that I can not recommend highly enough. The staff are so helpful and welcoming. Maria on the reception ensured we felt welcome upon arrival. The gym facility and swimming pool are excellent, again the staff here go above and beyond. The facade of the hotel is beautiful, making my 3 year old feel she was staying in a castle!
Hotel was nice and the staff very friendly, however the food was not great
This hotel was excellent. It was bought as a gift for my parents and they really enjoyed themselves. The staff were so nice and they really enjoyed their stay.
Check in was fine. We ate in the restaurant the first night - do not order steak unless you have very sharp teeth. Service was a bit slow and kids were starving - had to wait almost an hour for fish fingers and chips!!! Room was very small for four of us and was quite cold and our bed was so uncomfortable. On the positive side, the kids loved the pool and the kids club. They even managed a game of crazy golf even though the weather wasn't in our favour. I would suggest that they put a new door on the mens changing room door in the pool as the cold wind blowing out form under it was horrible when you had to sit in the kids pool with small children - they were frozen!!! Breakfast was lovely and our dinner the second night was much better than the first. Staff are all very friendly.
Unable to go had a accident
As usual, our stay at the Clarion was brilliant. Staff are always so pleasant and polite and service is super. Well done, will definitely be back again soon.
excellent value service and food were great. enjoyed the pool and spa
Family holiday with my hunsband and daughter. Had a fantastic time, very family friendley. Rooms clean, Breakfast is nice its just a bit repetative could do with a bit more choices especially as i'm a vegetarian there was only so much scramble eggs and mushrooms i could eat.. Staff are very friendley facilities are excellent i will definitley be back again next year.
myself and my partner were impressed with all the services at the hotel' the staff were very friendly'the food was lovely and plenty of it also.its lovely to see such afine buildingwiith all the history been used.i do hope to reviset the hotel again .tom and mary
Hotel is set in a fantastic location. the room was spacious and clean and comfortable. there was a great choice of food in the restaurant and it was cooked to a high standard. the staff were very friendly. all in all we enjoyed our stay.
A fabulous relaxing family break. We were upgraded to a suite - a real positive for a family. Well functioning & very clean leisure centre which we used twice during our very short break. The food in the restaurant was great - both for the adults as well as decent food for the kids with not a chip in sight. Breakfast was a buffet and something for everyone. Finally - I hope to revisit again very very soon and hope to stay longer too. Well Done Clarion Hotel and thank you to Lidl Breaks
Beds fine - breakfast inedible - shower broken. Not much choice in restaurant and what there was was horrible. Crockery and cutlery NOT clean (all smeared with caked on food particles). Pool and spa were fine but not much space left when using the big blow up dragon! Overall not 4 star.
Lovely hotel. Beautiful food and staff where so helpful and friendly. Will definately be staying again.
All staff were so friendly at the Clarion in Sligo. Check-in was easy and receptionist was so nice. Breakfast was so busy when we went down but the two girls that were on couldn't have been nicer. Our room was far away from the lifts, so we had a long walk to the room but this was expected as I have stayed here before and I didn't request a room closer to the lifts. We requested a family room and it met all our requirements. I did request that a cot be added to our room and that was fulfilled. We had luch here too and again the staff including the manager on at the time were brilliant. We had four kids with us that were running amuck and all the staff were so patient and helpful. I'd happily stay here again. I would also happily recommend this hotel. Thanks for a great stay.
we really appreciated the extra room.
We stayed for two nights over the October bank holiday with our 5 year old data and were very happy with everything. Huge room, ate in both restaurants and food was very good in both (although main restaurant could do with more vegetarian options, my whiting was lovely though). Used the pool 3 times and it was great, did not use the spa but the rates for it seemed very reasonable. Planned to play the crazy golf too but weather wasn't ideal. Staff very friendly, and breakfast was excellent and plentiful. All in all a lovely break, including Rosses Point beach, Glencar waterfall etc. Would thoroughly recommend.
my family and I totally enjoyed our stay here but the only thing we did not like is some of the dining staff were not as friendly as our first two nights and that was a pity because it is really a family friendly place and when you have staff destroying that it brings down the tone of the place, I would certainly consider staying here again some time in the future
i was very dissapointed ,as i stayed in this hotel before and loved it ,perhaps it was because it was fully booked ,but the rooms were cold and had a smell of dampness, also shower did not work
Large friendly hotel with excellent food. Fully enjoyed our stay and complimentary upgrade.
The hotel from the outside is very impressive, that's where it ends. We were very disappointed with the Clarion Hotel , Sligo. On arrival we were put in a family room at the very back of the hotel on a Sunday night when there seemed to be very few guests around. When i inquired at reception why so ?? They said they were not sure if we were a couple.(man and woman) !!!!! There was no atmosphere in the hotel and as for dinner what a disappointment Menu not varied and food not great and as for the hot breakfast the following morning, it was inedible with the exception of the beans. Over all did not enjoy our one night break, Hotel rooms tired, no atmosphere, food not great. Will not be returning. Give me the Radisson any day.
Staff friendly, but not smiley Pool, spa was great, the kids loved dining - dishes are great but not too much selection we asked for tea before dinner, finally after asking 3rd time we received it after dinner. ( I've asked for a sweetener as well, the waitress went to check if they keep in stock, but forgot to come back with an answer) – what a service rooms are spacious and outdated, for the family room we have not received bath floor towels, no slippers or bathrobe what you would expect from 4 star bathroom floor and under the sink was very dirty , 1 x30ml shampoo and 1x30ml batch gel received for a family room the second floor rooms were very noisy, I could hear my neighbours how they spoke and snore! we had no sleep at all The only good think in this hotel is the location, the building is beautiful from outside and the spa and pool are great and well maintained. I would definitely not go back again and I would not recommend this hotel. We went for relax and we came back very tired .
Pleasant stay on Clarion, Sligo ... friendly, helpful staff and good food. Good value too
WE HAD A GREAT TIME HERE. FOOD GREAT AND ROOM BRILLIANT. ROOM VERY SPACIOUS. STAFF REALLY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WE HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THIS HOTEL TO FAMILY AND THEY AGREE.. GREAT STAY WILL DEFINITELY VISIT AGAIN.
WE had a 2 night stay in the Clarion Hotel Sligo. The hotel building is so impressive. Have your photo taken in front of it ! Our double room was very nice and spacious. The staff were very courteous. We enjoyed the swimming pool and steam room before our breakfast. Indeed the breakie was tip top. The walk into Sligo takes about 25 minutes. Lovely venue for a wedding ! Jimmy Gollogly
Interesting choice of room offered, requested twin room for myself and my son, however beds were set up as one king size. Also the bathroom was a designated special needs bathroom with wheelchair shower, no vanity area, just a sink (presumably for greater space for wheelchair access). Not really appropriate for two able bodied people. One visit to reception rectified the bed situation. Hotel comfortable, breakfast a little strained, one waitress designated for several tables. She worked flat out but coffee/tea/toast order not taken until breakfast nearly finished and then only when her attention was drawn. More breakfast staff please. Similarly in spa, one person only on Sunday. Was sent to Gym reception to settle account. They didn't know price of anything. Kept mentioning 'deals' but none available. I booked a full body massage, was told when paid that it was a Swedish Massage (€5 more) - no deal there then.
Unfortunately our room did not live up to the exterior facade. Comfortable would best describe it. No nice views, instead from the window all we could see was a grass bank. Part of the access corridor to the room smelt of stale cigarette smoke. The bathroom was too clinical with high ceilings and walls covered in white tiles, not relaxing like I hoped it would be. However, the food (breakfast), staff and leisure facilities were excellent.
staff friendly room big and beautiful and the bed could have slept 6 loved it!! Grounds are pleasent but could do with some more upkeep. Breakfast was plentiful but a bit cool. I would go back again
We were really impressed with our stay here. The food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. The room was fantastic stayed in the penthouse room was so clean. Will definely be back again
a lovely hotel with friendly staff. We got a fantastic bed breakfast and evening meal deal. My parents were upgraded to a suite and our family room was very spacious. The pool and changing rooms were clean and the kids had a great time. They cater well for children providing a play room and a mini cinema which was well supervised. The food was good also. We will definately return to this hotel. O'brien family
We really enjoyed our stay in the Clarion Hotel. The room was warm, spacious and spotless. Food was very good but I would have like breakfast a little warmer, staff very helpful and friendly. It was quiet a long walk to town other than that, Its a great place to stay. Siobhan and Mick. Donegal.
Disappointing stay- large room but with no hot water for the duration despite reporting it on three occasions. We were unable to avail of our dinner offer in the restaurant due to hen parties and a large tour group so felt hard done by with the bar food option. Corridors not a pretty sight on the morning after! Alison, Meath.
Everything was fantastic apart from the hard bed and pillows, but my husband thought the bed was perfect he had a great nights sleep, food great, service great, just brilliant
I have stayed in this hotel several times, always superb. However this visit was disappointing. We asked for a room near the lift, and were given an oddly laid out "L" shaped room , very dark and dingy! The inclusive dinner had to be eaten in the bar as the restaurant was not open. This bar food was dried out and tasteless.... overall.. a real shame as I know from my past visits that this hotel is capable of much better. Staff however were lovely!
Very good hotel for the price. Excellent breakfast. Free swimming pool jacuzzi and suna. Super for familly
Recommend very much. Nice staff. Great leisure center. Good food. Very comfortable, clean rooms. Most enjoyable for adults and kids alike.
Not at all impressed with our stay. My husband and I stayed in the Clarion Hotel Sligo on Valentine's night last. I was really looking forward to having a nice romantic meal. We were very disapointed. There wasn't even a flower on the table and it just seemed like an ordinary night. There wasn't much to choose from on the Menu and we didn't eat it all as it wasn't nice. I couldn't help but notice that the other guests left their food on their plates also. The Staff wern't very friendly. I left a comment at the desk when i was leaving and told them of my dissapointment. I never got a reply on same. I have stayed in other Clarion Hotels in Dublin and Limerick and i have been very impressed but i have to say that i won't be returning to the Clarion Hotel Sligo again.
The staff were most welcoming and always helpful. The meals were excellent and the the facilities were of a high standard. This was my second visit in about six weeks. I can recommend this hotel with confidence, as much good value for money. Terence Kavanagh
There were 7 of us that stayed for the weekend most enjoyable facilities clean bedrooms spotless friendly and helpful staff. Only one complaint children should be more supervised at the pool, children jumping into pool no regard for other users.
stayed at the clairon on saturday nice hotel rooms pritty big bit out of town 8.00 euros on a taxi only problem we had breakfast not great plates were cold and the breakfast itself not very warm .
Booked the Clarion Hotel Sligo (with Lidl-breaks) at the last minutes i.e on Tuesday morning to stay Wed/Thursday night. Absolutely delighted with EVERYTHING!!. I couldn't have been happier. The hotel was lovely, staff very busy but very friendly. It certainly wouldn't have been the week (Easter break) to have a romantic few nights as there were so many children, which was perfect as we had our own two with us. They had a ball!! Played crazy golf & swam. Food was gorgeous - no complaints from anyone we all cleared the plates! All in all, from a couple who don't go to hotels ordinarily with their children, it was a terrific treat for the whole family. I'll certainly be using Lidl breaks again if this little break was anything to go on. Katie G
Great value, friendly staff and super clean rooms. Everything you would expect from Clarion Hotel
Stayed in April - Hotel was good value as per Lidl price, room was grand and leisure facilities. Didn't eat at the hotel except breakfast which was just ok as it was not to order. Not really walking distance to town so prepare to pay for taxi or drive.
Lovely hotel, staff were excellent and facilitates met all of our requirements. Mini golf and leisure facilities were excellent for children.
The room was very very warm and at first the TV didnt work as the cable was missing. After contacting reception it was sorted out quite quickly.Service in the bar was slow enough and there wasnt many in there.Breakfast was great and self-servise but q's formed easily as it was quite busy and the food was running out quite quickly.Check-out took 10 minutes as there was only one desk manned at 11.45am.Some aspects could have been alot better. No spare pillows and an unstocked mini-ber too.
Whilst this hotel is quite nice could do with some minor cosmetic work - some painting required and noticed the edges of some of the stairs were thread bare. We were actually over charged on two occasions in the dining room but when we pointed out the mistake we were reimbursed. On the three mornings of our stay our breakfast was cold and we varied our times of going down for breakfast but didnt seem to make any difference. A menu for the Kudos bar was advertised on a notice board in Reception but when we asked to avail of this menu on Sunday night we were informed the bar did not serve meals on Bank Holiday week-ends but the notice board didnt state this. As for the leisure facilities the jacuzzi had a fusty odour and the showers in the changing room were cold. Whilst we were disappointed with these matters we found the staff very friendly but we would be hesitant to go to the Clarion in the future.
My wife and a friend of hers went on trip. They were told that meal as part of deal was two courses, which they had no issue with, but they were charged extra for a different choice of potatoe? The room next door had a door adjoining it. On the saturday night they could hear the other peolpe talking normally. This sdjoinging room shoould only be used by families or people in dame groups.
Stayed for one night 2nd March. Excellent value for dinner bed and breakfast. Rooms huge, clean and comfy. Staff very helpful, service good. Dinner menu limited, but what we ordered was lovely. One member of our group used leisure facilities and was very happy with the pool and sauna. I would have no problem recommending Clarion Sligo, and would definately stay again.
Delightful hotel. We only stayed one night but definitely will be going back. We have a special needs son and required a triple room - that is too tall an order for most hotels but not the Clarion. The bonus was that is was not a cramped room. We expected a double/twin room with a sofa/pull out bed. It was a spacious, comfortable room. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food was delicious. Highly Recommended
Staff were very welcoming. Meals excellent. The leisure was a joy to use. Hope to have a return visit in a few months time. Terence Kavanagh
I stayed here with my family at the start of February and we had a great time. We had an interconnecting family room and it was very spacious and we really enjoyed it. Rooms were very clean and always lovely and warm. The kids enjoyed the pool and we went down to it each evening. Breakfast in the mornings were lovely. We didnt eat in the restaurant but i would like to try it on our next visit. Only flaws i would have is our room was very far away, we had to take two lifts and it wasnt much fun with all the luggage and four kids.
was here for my sisters wedding and I have to say the hotel staff helped with her big day, the were friendly and couldn't do more for us, the rooms were huge, clean and well cared for, the food was lovely and over all a great stay
We stayed in this hotel beginning of jan 2013 very friendly staff, food was gorgeous, rooms spotless and lovely decor the only negative would be no ATM facility in hotel as good walk to nearest ATM. Would definitely stay there again. Star rating 4.
Nice Hotel, lovely rooms. Food included breakfast lovely, dinner bit disappointing. Overall good enough for the money paid.
We had a good time in the Clarion Hotel, we had a disabled room which was very good, the breakfast was also very good. but the dinner menu was poor, In general the hotel is lovely.
Stayed in Clarion Hotel Sligo 30th Nov - 1st Dec 2012 with my partner and we were delighted with the service and the facilities. Our room was extremely spacious, warm and comfortable - we had a dinner option with Chicken and Pork which was of fine quality as was breakfast. We also used the Pool facilities in the evening and the next morning which were also above average. I would have zero complaints about this hotel and i've stayed in many - also go 1pm check out thrown in :0)
Stayed in the Clarion Limerick for a weekend in December 2012.Hotel and Leisure facilities were excellent .The only downfall was the breakfast was cold.It was very busy the weekend we were there and the staff in the dining room at this time seemed to be disinterested in clearing tables and moving the queue.Otherwise we had a great weekend in the Claionn Limerick
Just back after enjoying a one night stay at the Clarion. The hotel and staff are nice and the building itself is magnificent. The food, especially dinner was great. We were full after our starter and the main was equally as big portions. However the dining room could have done with a little heat. The room was clean, warm (unlike the restaurant) and spacious. Having searched the room for "the high performane hairdryer" which was not there, as was supposed to, reception sent one up to us, also the so called "stocked Mini Bar" was empty and I believe the fridge didnt even work. The 'spa therapy toiletries' (which I was expecting to be amazing) consisted of one tiny bottle of shower gel another tiny bottle of shampoo which was clearly not enough for 2 people, hardly enough for 1 person. There was an old style TV and not a flat screen LCD as advetised on their own website, it really doesnt bother me what sort of tv is in a room but why state that there is flat screen when there cleary is not. In General it is a lovely hotel and I would go back again, the swimming pool and facilities were great.
Excellent value for a weekend night in a fine hotel. The only negative point was the lack of entertainment in the hotel considering it was so close to Christmas. Staff very friendly and obliging.
Excellent hotel. Lovely staff.spacious modern bedrooms. Food very good and quick service. Pool and leisure centre is perfect. Looking forward to returning to this hotel. Highly recommend this hotel for family get away or girly wknd.
Recently stayed in the Clarion with my mother and two nephews. We loved it and it was so close to the city centre for shopping which was great. We had a lovely spacious suite on the second floor which was great!! Loved the hotel and will definitely be back. Only minus point was at Breakfast in morning staff were very slow with the tea and toast!! We were finished our food by time it came around. But all in all was a very relaxing fun break!!
Stayed in the Clarion hotel for 2 nights in August 2012. Had a great stay! Definitely would recommend this hotel for anyone with kids. Booked the family room which has the bedroom separate from the living area, also has it's own kitchen facilites - fridge / microwave which is great when you have small children. Found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Lovely grounds at the holel and long driveway up to hotel, which was great as there was no traffic noise. Very central to sligo town without being "stuck" in the middle of the town. Thank you Adrienne Scotson
Found the hotel very nice, although so big our room was literally at far end of hotel and about 10 min walk, but apart from that, was lovely. Bit outside town so had to get taxi in and out when going out but taxi were easy to get. Lovely grounds and friendly staff.
We really enjoyed our mid week stay in the Clarion hotel. The swimming pool and leisure complex were fantastic especially when you are travelling with young kids. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant was lovely. All in all a very pleasant short break. We definitely will be back.
A very enjoyable stay, well worth the visit, close to town and beaches. Very family friendly staff, efficient and polite. Swimming pool and leisure facilities great. Will definitely come back...
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, spacious and in a quiet area of the hotel. Leisure facilities and food were also good.
One night stay with family and grumpy (ill) grandchild. Staff were wonderful, particularly dining staff who were very tolerant of irritable child and gave us anything we needed. Rooms were HUGE, clean and quiet. Pool area was great and childrens area an added bonus. Geat value for 98 euro for two for Dinner Bed and breakfast.
Hi, 20 of us availed of this Lidl Break We enjoyed our stay at the Clarion......it was good value for money.... However.... I would not consider it a 4 star hotel... The room could have done with a serious Cleaning as there was dust everywhere.....lightbulb broke in lamp.....minimum supply of towels......we brought our parents who are in their 80s and my dad has breathing difficulties, we had phoned previously and requested a room that was near to Reception....this was not dealt with as they might as well have been sponsored for the walk they had to make...( not 4star treatment) The food was certainly not 4 star and we had the same menu each night....lacking imagination..... On Saturday at dinner we requested 1 glass of red wine 3 times ...it took 40 mins to arrive even after 3 requests.... We had lovely Treatments....but again....on booking out they did not have the cost on their system and only I mentioned I owed €40 for treatment......a bit haphazard to say the least. Overall from a Lidl break point of view it was a great price ...but I think we would have been really annoyed had we paid Full Price as it would not have been worth that.... Most of the staff were really nice.... I would certainly book another break but might do a bit more homework next time.
Had a great family weekend at clarion sligo.staff were great and breakfast and dinner were very good and plentiful.it was great value.we would stay again.
Just back from a family weekend which we all enjoyed thoroughly. However I don't believe the Clarion is a 4 star more like a 3.5 but in saying that I have more positives than negatives to say about our experience. Pros Impressive building with ample car parking Lovely staff and efficient check in Family room was big and spacious Meals on both nights were good Lovely pool area with very attentive staff in the spa Very convenient to Sligo Town (walking distance) Games room and crazy golf were welcome surprises Negatives Had requested a room near an elevator or ground floor due to elderly parents - this was not given initially and had to re-request at reception Shower pressure was just awful - would put you off having a shower TV reception in rooms’ very bad quality No sky sports in bar which meant we had to leave hotel to watch a match Service in reception was quite slow - in particular for drinks
This is our 2nd stay at the Clarion and once again, it was super. Staff are so friendly and helpful and it is very child friendly. Thanks again for a great stay.
We were met by a lovely & very friendly staff. We had a family room & it was a great size. The pool was lovely. The breakfast had a small selection but it was fine. Over all I would highly recommend this hotel & would defiantly stay there again.
We stayed in the Clarion hotel, Sligo. Our room was huge, very clean and comfortable. Food was great. The grounds were excellent for walking. A lovely relaxed environment, would definitely book with lidl breaks again.
I stayed here for a wedding for one night. when booking online I asked for a smoking room. but after checking in I was given a non smoking room, after saying I booked a smoking room they changed me to smoking, not a problem. The first room was average size but difficult to find and found I got lost a few times. the second room was the same size as my two bedroom house, more like an apartment with lounge, kitchen, hallway, bathroom and bedroom. still a long walk from reception ( no need to work out in the gym, just walk to and from your room a few times) I think if the power went out this hotel would be like The Shining movie. The wedding was great, in it's own venu an old church which the hotel put on a very tasty menu and great food. The bar prices seemed expensive or maybe i'm used to paying local pub prices.? The breakfast was great, help yourself to whatever you want, and plenty of it. although you have to order toast and fried eggs if you want them. for the price as a single person staying here, I thought it was very good at €69. and would stay here again.
Lovely hotel, excellent polite staff. We always upgrade room to a suite for €25 per night which is well worth it.
Beautiful hotel nice grounds around hotel , Staff are friendly and helpful ,Breakfast was good also had 3 course dinner was included in room price which i thought was very good value,Hotel is located outside sligo town would stay here again ,
I have recently returned from a three night stay at this hotel and if this is the quality that we now accept as 4 star then standards have really dropped. As one of the other reviewers has stated I too made a booking at this hotel in January of this year and received an email 2 days before my planned trip that they had over booked and that I was being moved to another hotel. This was not acceptable to me and after what I can only describe as a 'heated discussion' with the receptionist I was told we could stay! On the Thursday night the bar staff at the hotel seemed under pressure and I almost felt like I was intruding on their evening. Our room was quiet small, when I asked for a disposable shower cap I was informed that 'we don't them' surely this would be standard in a 4 star hotel? The toiletries that were available were of a poor quality and the kettle in the room didn't work. The breakfast was not good. Again for a 4 star hotel I would expect things like croissants, pastries, a selection of cheese & cold meats, yogurts. None of these were available. There was your typical 'cooked' breakfast but the quality of that was poor. There was 1 choice of cheese & 1 ham and s bowl of natural yogurt. All of the above may seem petty and honestly if I had booked into a B&B or a 2/3 star hotel I wouldn't have a problem but not for the Clarion. I will not be returning.
I stayed in the Clarion Hotel Sligo recently as I was attending a function in the hotel. Unfortunately, I do have a few negative comments to make. Firstly, the hotel tried to move me to another hotel in the area just the day before I was due to arrive, stating that the hotel was over booked. My original booking was made a full 9 months in advance so I was disgusted to get the phone call. Needless to say, I stood my ground and the booking was subsequently re-confirmed. Secondly the Receptionist on duty the night I checked in was quite abrupt with me. She was obviously under pressure but I thought it was very unprofessional that she took this attitude with me. Thirdly, the food at the buffet breakfast and the hotel function were not up to 4* quality. The presentation was messy and the food was tasteless and cold on occassion. On a positive note, the food ordered at the bar was actually quite nice. The bedroom was of 3* quality. Just the bear toileteries and towels. The fan in the toilet was not working properly. The nozzle for the bath/shower was broken off and the pipe was leaking hence the water sprayed out onto the floor. Although my stay was enjoyable, this was due to the function I was attending with friends and NOT the hotel itself. I won't be returning.....
Lovely looking hotel on nice open grounds. Easy to find and get to in Sligo, a sign out on the road opposite the hotel entrance wouldn't go astray however. it's a former mental health institute but this is only the churches and the facade remaining. Behind the imposing front is a modern hotel premises. Bright and airy and modern but with touches of the older building such as the wall in the restaurant and the old parquet flooring in the bar cum restaurant. Check in was troublefree and there were two lifts plus stairs to the two floors above and the leisure centre on the lower ground floor. our room was a good size with a super king size bed. Good sized bathroom and no annoying fan either, very good point. The hotel and rooms were nice and quiet at night. We slept very well. The staff were great, very friendly and we made sure to tip every evening after dinner. The leisure centre pool was a tad cold and quite small in comparison to other places we've stayed. Nice jacuzzi and steam/sauna rooms also. The carpets on the stairs are a little frayed ,thats about the only thing we noticed seemed out of place. Highly recommended hotel for the location, prices and great staff oh and a room you can actually sleep in.
We stayed in the Clarion (2 mature couples) during the last week in September. We could not fault a single moment of the stay which was exceptional value with the Today FM Breaks. The friendliness of the staff and the knowledge at the reception in regards to activities and restaurants around Sligo was excellent. The Embassy Bar and Grill is a must for exceptional food and service. We would certainly recommend it and will return at these prices. Ed
Impressive building. Enjoyed stay.Very relaxing .Staff friendly .Food good. Room very clean. However quite a long walk to room via multiple corridors. Good base from which to explore the countryside.
We found the hotel to be very good and staff were helpful. I would have no hesitation in returning.
Yes hotel was good food good but the pint in bar not soo good
Hotel was nice, although did look a bit like a cold castle from the outside. Receptionist was just ok. Room we were given was quite a walk away, had to take the first lift to level one and then walk to another lift and go down to level -1 and then walk to the very end. When we did walk down towards the room there was a smell of ciggarettes in the corridor. We must have been near a smoking room. Our room was a bit fusty although it was big and had a double bed and single bed. There was also a kitchenette in another room which handy and it had a pull out sofa bed. It also did smell a bit fusty though. The shower also took quite a while to warm up, had to leave it running for almost 5 minutes before it got hot which i felt was a waste of water even though the clarion are supposedly keen on reducing reusing and recycling... There was supposed to be wi fi throughout the hotel although i was unable to recieve it in our room which was at the end of the corridor, must have been out of range. Meal was very good and reasonably priced, no complaints there.
5 adults stayed in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo for 2 nights. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff very friendly. The rooms were very warm despite the fact that the heating was off. We enjoyed the facilities at the leisure centre. As some of our group were fussy eaters, we would have preferred more choice on the dinner menu.
Faultless. Good staff, good food, great room, good parking, great price.
We stayed with our 12 wk old baby for 2 nights, family room was lovely but had problems getting in to it. We had to take our child out of the buggy & dismantle it to get in the room. This had to happen every time we entered & left the room. The food was lovely for breakfast & dinner at the bar each night, pool area was busy but very good . Would defiantly return but not to same room.
Nice hotel, however its more suited to families especially during the summer months. The foom was fine but had a path overlooking the window and smelled musty. Food at breakfast was really good.
We stayed in Clarion Hotel, Sligo with our daughter who is 4 1/2 years old for four days recently and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked the hotel through the Lidl breaks. The staff were very freindly and helpful and the facilities for both adults and little ones were excellent. We would definitely recommend the Clarion, Sligo and lidl breaks to our friends.
Highly recommend - Family Rooms a real treat.
Our stay was great, we changed to one bed suite for our stay, as we had our 8mt old baby with us, staff lovely and very helpful. Would be staying again, ideal for families as there was a kids club. Thanks Liz
The hotel was fantastic. Staff so friendly and kind. Kids had a ball too and really enjoyed the kids club. We booked a family suite and it was so worth paying the little extra a night in order to have more space when there are two adults and two children sharing for four nights. The breakfast and dinners in the bar each evening were of very high quality and very enjoyable. Sligo itself it a beautiful county and there is plenty to visits and lovely beaches and things to see within driving distance. To sum it all up we had a fantastic family holiday.
Friendly staff, nice clean rooms with space for the children. The children enjoyed the kids club it gave us a few spare hours.Food was good and reasonably priced. used the leisure complex regurarly which is spacious although busy but well maintained.
Had a fantastic time in the Clarion - very family friendly. Lovely staff.
Very good value. Rooms extremely comfotable, well appointed & clean. Staff & service excellent. Let down slightly by the range of menu on offer. Rating 4 Star
Good : Nice room, good staff, nice hotel. Bad: Terrible Meal. Was over-charged €100 on checkout. Breakfast was cancelled early and without notice.
This was my first time to stay in Sligo and we had a great stay, there was myself and my wife and 2 boys of 3yrs and 5yrs, we stayed for 3nights in a family room which was lovely and big. The staff i must say were by far the best i have had the pleasure of dealing with in all the hotels i have stayed in before, right down to the room maids, The only thing that was a little disappointing was the lack of entertainment for our boys the time we stayed, but i think a kids club was starting the following week, and the pool was a little cool the last 2 days, but over all our stay in the hotel went beautiful, Thanks to all. Fergus Hynes.
my husband and i found over all our stay was very good , as we were their for a week we found that the every day cleaning of our room was not great and the bed never in our whole stay was made properly also the pool was filthy on the bottom and it was like that all week as i said over all our stay was very good and we would stay again warm regards liz kierans(goff)
Great Hotel, the kids loved every minute! we were upgraded to a family suite which was massive and very comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Overall a great stay and we would definitely go back.
We are just back from a 3 night break in the Clarion and on a whole we enjoyed it. Staff were friendly rooms could have been cleaner ie. the duvet was dirty and no sheet change in the 3 days. And on the Thursday night we had to leave the hotel to watch the European Championships as there was a private function in the only section of the bar with a tv . ( for 12-15 local residents ) not paying guests.
Excellent Hotel - Reception and Restaurant Staff genuinely friendly, our room very quiet, Dinner in Restaurant excellent - our 3rd time here and will definitely return. Michael
I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The hotel is clean rooms are very comfortable. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the food was just great. I hope to be back soon as I enjoyed by stay very much. Maureen
Really nice hotel in beautiful surrounds, great staff and first class amenities, excellent breakfast.
really enjoyed my stay here very much family oriented. staff very friendly and helpfull
Lovely hotel at a great price and our family room was upgraded to a suite. Good choice.
Very friendly staff throughout hotel. Rooms very comfortable, although any noise made between our room and the next was easily heard. Great value for money.
We had a lovely stay at the Clarion on the bank holiday weekend. The staff were competent. The hotel was surprisingly large and even though it was busy it didn't feel overcrowded. The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The food was good and there was a good choice. However, I don't really think the hotel is of 4*quality as it needs some redecoration in places. Ann
We enjoyed our stay...had a lovely suite (only complaint there was that air conditioning was just outside our window), great leisure centre & good food. Staff were very efficient and helpful at all times!
The Clarion Hotel Sligo is absolutely lovely! Set in a lovely park-like setting, we had a nice view of a slice of the bay and Benbulben. The room was very comfortable and the included breakfast was satisfying. The staff was very helpful and resolved a slight issue with room amenities by changing the room IMMEDIATELY and with no fuss. The manager then came to make sure everything was fine.
great stay in this hotel. Very child friendly & clean
We stayed at the Clarion Hotel in Sligo for one night. The staff were really friendly and helpful, they even gave our dogs water bowls, the service was excellent and for that I would recommend the hotel. However, the room was in a basement and hard to reach (using two lifts to ge there). Our room was not very clean unfortunately e.g. bathroom, duvet. I would stay there again but get another room if possible.
Likewise, could not have found a better hotel. the accomdation, staff, food, cleanliness all first class. staff could not do enough to help, DF
could not have found a better hotel. the accomdation, staff, food, cleanliness all first class. staff could not do enough to help, J.B.
Ten of us went down and played golf in Sligo and stayed in Clarion for differnt nights. The b&b was very good. Any interaction with staff at reception, restaurant and bar was excellent. I would go back there and would recommend the hotel to afriend.
nice hotel, and enjoy swimming :) Will go again sometime soon. but was fullly book one SAT :(
Arrived at Clarion in Sligo on Friday at 2.30 pm , No problem checking in , We were upgraded to a suite without asking, Dinner was excellent, good variety, fast, friendly and efficient service and THREE course was offered,,All in all a very good weekend, Will certaintly stay there again.
Lovely Hotel and great dinner... Staff very friendly... Pool facilities enjoyable...would recommend to friends..
Really enjoyed our stay. Staff were all very nice. Bed was really comfy. The food was ok. Not far in a taxi to town. Would recommend.
Had a great stay at Clarion. Great place to relax and unwind. Found no fault with rooms and staff were wonderful and friendly. Would definately consider a return visit.
Stayed here for the first time for a two night stay on 28th April 2012 with my husband and our three children to celebrate my son's Confirmation. Were under the impression that we were to be given a family suite but instead were given a family room comprising of a double, single and a travel cot. My husband had to sleep on the floor for our first night as they had no larger family accomodation available, although they did move us the following day. Not a good start though for a guest to have to sleep on the floor! As we were told the dining area is very busy during breakfast time, we decided to have breakfast in our room. The first morning was fantastic - beautiful breakfast. The second morning we didn't receive it - although we did receive soup and sandwiches in the afternoon once I had mentioned this to the Receptionist. The hotel was extremely busy which resulted in us not having anywhere to park either. Thought priority would have been given to residents of the hotel. Apart from all this, however, I cannot fault the friendliness of the staff who were extremely professional and courteous at all times.
Excellent Hotel. Staff very helpful & friendly. Food Great. Will def return.
We stayed in the Clarion Hotel from the 13th April to the 15th April 2012. The hotel was very busy. We were disappointed with the room we were given and asked to be moved to another room and after viewing a few rooms we moved to a quiet part of the Hotel. The hotel is situated just outside the town and it is in a lovely setting. We were not happy with the standard of hygiene in the restaurant. When we came down for breakfast the first morning it was very busy. We felt there was not enough staff on to look after the guests. The delph was not properly washed and this did not inprove for the next morning. The staff are friendly and the food is good. A group of us had booked to go back next month but we decided to cancel. It was very disappointing as we were looking forward to visiting Sligo again and of course we lost our deposit.
Quite simply the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The place was filthy, room was the worst ever...ripped pillows, ripped fabric on chairs, first hotel I have ever stayed in with no air conditioning. Bar was cold and uninviting, menu selection was awful. I will never go back there........how this place is 4 stars is beyond me.
Lovely impressive hotel on beautiful grounds. Our room was 2 trips in the lift in between walking about four hallways from reception desk!!! Room was v small but v clean apart from tea making facilities which were unusable. Gym pool & Spa centre all lovely well kept & clean . Breakfast & dinner beautiful.... Food v v good!!!!! Staff at reception desk give v poor service although friendly when they finally get around 2 dealing with u. We waited 15 mins before 1 of the girls thought 2 actually come over & check us in then we had 2 wait another 10...15 mins while our room was checked before we were given our keys. Our room was supposed to be ready from 2pm for us ..... It was then 4pm & still we had to wait for room to be checked!!!!!!! Wouldn't be inclined to stay in this hotel again
Have been to The Clarion a dozen times , but this time I thought it cud do with a good hoovering along the corriders and stairs were pretty dirty .We had to queue about 15mins for breakfast at 10.30 which has never happened to me before at this hotel . And there was no tea/ coffee making facilities in the room .Was also overcharged for treatments at the spa, but the receptionist was very reasonable and refunded straight away . But on the whole the hotel is welcoming and staff very efficient and friendly .This is first time I have ever had a complaint here some maybe it was just an off day ! Spa and swimming pool are excellent !
stayed at the Clarion a good few times. i keep going back, it is very child frendly and central for our needs. food is lovely and staff very frendly.
Stayed for 2 nights over the Easter Break with husband and 2 children. Lots of families around, very child friendly and we were very impressed especially with our waitress on the first night and the staff in the Children's Club. Service excellent and food very good value of money. My only complaint would be the corridors could do with a "proper" hoovering. Lots of dust along the walls of the corridors. All and all I would recommned hotel to other families but may tell my single pals to give it a miss as there was ALOT of children running around!!!!
Great hotel, family suites are spacious, great kids activities, very friendly staff, great value, great location, the hotel is large and a bit difficult to get your head around the geography of the building but its long corridores are great for the kids. The food is good but not quite as outstanding as the rest of the hotel. I'd highly recomend this as a base for touring the Sligo area and its great for families and kids.
Enjoyable two days. Hotel is clean. Service is good. Would recomend.
I recently stayed for 3 nights with my mum and my 2 children. The Clarion is a really family friendly hotel. I found the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and breakfast was great. The swimming pool was lovely. This is my 5th time staying at the Clarion as we travel to Sligo regularly to visit relatives and we love staying there.
Fantastic hotel with superb facilities. Synergie restaurant lovely food and great value. The best breakfasts for a long time in a hotel. Will totally recommend this hotel to family & friends.
great location, couldn't fault any aspect of the stay. Wonderful value, breakfast could have a better selection, otherwise a very friendly place would highly recommend it.
great hotel good value for money seen alot of kids there which is great with pool room swiming pool gym etc quality of food was great in bar and also in restaurant breakfast could be a little warmer and better selection for a 4 star hotel . enjoy your stay here edgar
Wonderful two nights in the Clarion. Room was spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Staff were warm and friendly. Would definitely stay here again and certainly would recommend to others.
Good stay, no problems. Alcohol isn't cheap at 4.50 a pint.
Spent 2 nights at The Clarion and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Bedrooms were clean, everything needed was supplied. The hotel is lovely and its surroundings are beautiful. Staff at the hotel were absolutely brilliant. The food was great too, evening meals especially, my only complaint is that the breakfast buffet was a bit too cold for my liking but had loads on offer.would return again no problem and would highly recommend it to others.
I stayed in the clarion with three friends. The hotel itself is lovely and our rooms was nice. However the walls are thin and we could hear children crying at 6 in the morning!! we had requested a joining room with friends but instead were placed beside a young family. The night porter was so so rude, after returning from town at 2am we requested drinks in the lobby. He was so rude and told us the bar was closed. He said "GOOD GIRLS GO TO BED". (We were on holiday, was our request so shocking?!) two of my party hadn't had a drink so we were not a group of drunken "girls". In the end we were allowed to bring drinks to our room!!! lucky us...... i think not We all felt his attitude was awful. Service in the bar and restaurant was slow. very little staff but all staff were lovely and welcoming expect the night porter in the hotel. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to Family or Friends.
My experience with the Clarion Hotel in Sligo was overshadowed by my doubtful first experience with the Lidl break. Whether it was related to the reasonable Lidl price or the Clarion Hotel itself will remain questionable but the fact that we were put in a rather substandard hotel room with views over the backyard were bins are kept and given the back table (beside the back door) in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast leaves behind a doubtful impression of the Lidl break experience. I have not become an enthusiastic fan of the Lidl breaks after this experience as it appears discriminating to me. Sorry.
Everything about our stay was very enjoyable. Staff very friendly, lovely food. Great leisure facilities.. Defo go back..
The hotel was really great, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was lovely and I being wheat intolerant found the staff etc very accomodating to my needs. The bed room was clean and tidy and the beds were very comfy. We had a very nice and relaxing stay in the hotel.
Very disappointed in our recent visit to the Clarion Hotel Sligo. Very poor bar food menu, only soup and sandwiches available. Over crowded pool due to the fact only a small area was available to hotel guests. The cleaners did not show up to clean the room till after 4:00pm. And yet still the hotel was filthy. Breakfast also failed as it was cold. Ellen.
Great deal, nice hotel , great choice of food at breakfast, friendly staff, leisure center and gym very well run, however a taxi needed to get into sligo town which at 10 euro for such a short journey is a bit steep, maybe the hotel could give preference to a company who would give a discount to residents ? will return to this hotel and would rec amend it to others.
lovely staff, great surroundings and facilities..Best weekend break away in Ireland!
Just had a lovely weekend at the Clarion Hotel Sligo. Got a fantastic offer at 29.50pppn B&B. Staff were very friendly and effecient. Room was very big, breakfast excellent - plenty of choice. Leisure Centre was great, used it on 4 occasions over both days!!!! The only complaint I have was I was unable to book anything in the Spa. I intended having a facial and had rang the hotel reception twice during the week to be told there was no need to book in advance. I rang the Hotel Reception on the morning before I arrived to be told they had no availability as it was only open Fridays and Saturdays and was totally booked out. A small thing but disappointing as this was one of the reasons I choose this hotel. Overall, a very pleasant stay in the Clarion and I would recommend it.
I would like to compliment the Clarion Hotel on their very helpful and friendly staff. We had a wonderful weekend there with our children. The food was excellent. This was our third visit to the hotel and we will certainly be going back! Excellend Value!!! Joseph Rogers
staff very helpful and friendly. found bedroom noisey with people coming back late at night and verylittle soundproofing from hallway. not may cosy places to sit and have a quiet bottle of wine as bar and poyer were not geared for relaxing, perhaps its more a hotel for young party people having a quick drink or get together before heading out. good value and clean large rooms ,but possibly not for anyone over 45 who wants to chill out and relax about a hotel for a weekend.
Last minute booking and to get it at onlt €29.50 pps was a steal, found the hotel very compfy, staff friendly and helpfull, breakfast was good, good selection, buffet style and the the use of the pool wasa bonus. Will be back again.
Very disappointed in our recent stay. We looked forward to a relaxing overnight stay with nice food & a comfortable atmosphere as promised by their website, unfortunately this was not the case!! Room very sub standard, very clinical and bathroom was in bad need of maintenance!!! Food was ice cold for breakfast & their fresh fruit salad although looked nice was served up with hairs in it. Evening meal was only ok. For a 4 star hotel, it was a big disappointment! Will not be recommending to anybody. :-(
Lovely comfortable room. Bed was fab. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Good selection at breakfast buffet. 20min walk into town. Love this hotel and we'll return.
excellent hotel staff lovely food very good enjoyed our time there, Jackie and ger.
Great hotel, if choosing a room ask for a suite it has its own kitchen and living room - ideal for families as it has a sofa bed
Lovely hotel. Very generous room, very family friendly, nice pool, staff very friendly, excellent breakfast. Loads of things to see and do in the area. Atmosphere in the bar a bit sparse, and range of beers very small. Excellent overall though.
V good value for money family break. Hotel more like a good three star and food average. Leisure facilitates good, big rooms and friendly staff.
Our experience left much to be desired, suffice to say we would not return to this hotel. To proivde a balanced review, one would need to look at the accommodation and the dining experience separately. Our first of two nights found us in a room which was sufficiently large enough for 3 of us, the bed linen and bathroom towels crisp and spotless, with the latter in plentiful supply. However, throughout the whole night the ceiling creaked so loudly that we were unable to get much sleep. It appeared that with each gust of wind outside, the interior of the room seemed to responded with immence noise. When we reported this to them on the following morning they quickly offerred us another room on another floor which was superb - so a good response to our problem. The dining experience was not good for several reasons. It appeared that those on a package were put in one side of the restaurant , closed off by a wall separating from the main body of the dining room. We could only choose from certain items on the menu which meant that there was very little choice. The standard of food and catering was definitely not 4 star. After having a fish starter, the waitress asked me if I would keep my cutlery and reuse for my main dish of beef!!! I noticed that, when clearing a table after a particularly messing seating (very small kids), the waiter reused cutlery which he perceived to be clean by placing them on the table for the next unsuspecting seating. How awful! The breakfast continental food was very nice, lovely croissants, cereals, fruit and coffee. The hot breakfast was a disaster, the black and white puddings on both mornings were dried and leathery, the scrambled eggs watery and sausages flavourless. On leaving the restaurant, they asked us to sign for another groups bill on the first night, so we left that with them to solve. On checking out of the hotel at the end of our stay, the bill was all wrong again and we had to go through the items with them & remind them that we had already paid a deposit so this needed to be deducted. All in all,not a great place for us.
We found the Clarion to be satisfactory. THe room was comfortable and spacious although toiletries were very scarce and not replenished. The breakfast was gd but the fine dining in the restaurant was not.The dinigg area was comfortable but very hot and we had to repeatly ask for our water to be replenished and it never happened! My husband was asked was there a credit check done on his card on our second night in the restaurant whcih was highly irregular. THe bar is soulless. i dont think we would be returning.
We stayed one night in a family room 2 adults and 2 children room - comfortable and spacious and met our needs well inner door to bathroom corridor was a nice touch - kept corridor noise away reception and lobby - spacious leisure centre - spacious easily accessed -good access time for kids- nice kids pool food - breakfast was satisfactory to good- bar snacks for lunch and evening met our requirements if all rooms as good we will stay again on our next visit to sligo good value obtained through lidl - thanks
My wife asked for a quiet non smoking room and stated that one adult ( my wife) had limited mobility. We were put in a room on the 2nd floor. The room had an old style window tightly jammed. We were unable to open it or close it.There were plenty of other rooms with easily opening and closing windows.Obviously no regard was given to our limited mobility problem. If the lift was not in use e.g in the event of a fire how could my wife get down from the 2nd floor. We were not upgraded to a suite. Entrance to the hotel is not wheelchair friendly. Other wise everything was o.k. The service was good. The leisure centre was excellent.
hotel was lovely and very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. with a big group of 25 everyone came home happy.
Not my cup of tea. Entrance poorly laid out. Reception not user friendly everybody was looking at each other as to where to go! Staff very helpful . TWO STAR. I will leave out the food & Service, as they had a wedding in progress. Sligo is a beautiful county will go back again but my hotel choice will change HOTEL SIGN NEEDS TO BE SEEN?. JAMES KILDARE
A nice hotel. The bed was a little Hard. Other than that I would recommend this hotes for a short break.
Lovely hotel. I upgraded to a suite which was spacious and perfect with small children. Swimming pool and gym facilities very good. I went for a facial which was lovely in itself but not a true 'spa experience;, more like a beauty saloon. Breakfast was not too bad but buffet style so hot food is not 'fresh' and tastes like that. Had dinner at the hotel and it was good.
The accomodation was well below standard. The room we eventually were brought to had the windows secured with duct tape. The first room we were booked into was in the basement and a substantial walk from reception. There were dead flies on the floor. There was no direct lift to the floor either. Another room we were told had a walk in shower which turned out to be a disabled one. It also resembled a public toilet. If either of us were disabled we would have requested a refund.
I enjoyed my recent stay. The lidl deal was excellent value. The hotel was clean and rooms were spacious and facilities were great. Most hotel staff were very professional if not a little slow at times to react to requests. The pool was excellent although I was disappointed with the SPA as lacked the spa experience and felt more like a standard beauty salon not a spa.
Good Big Hotel on impressive gounds. Had to go up one lift and down another to get to our room which would probaly have annoyed me if we had to stay more then one night. They messed up on our dinner booking and didn't come up with many solutions to fix it (they treated us like one of their many stag/hens they had there and not the large family with kids, grandkids etc that we were).. however, we all squezzed in and the service was quite good. Overall enjoyed the stay.
lovely hotel got to reception to be told that( our two rooms )got flooded the night before and were moved to apartments where we had to walk across a wet lawn to get to not impressed
this hotel was lovely, great for a relaxing break and perfect if you have small children, beautifuly pool and we had a beautiful room, althought it was a suite and so it cost extra and also it was not available when we arrived, we had to wait an additional hour and a half, which was a long time with a 1 year old. The grounds of the hotel were well kept. The breaskfast was lovely with all types of food available, however the dinners were not up to the standard of what you would expect of a four star hotel.
Room comfortable and breakfast well cooked but breakfast service poor. Bar uninviting and in my opinion poorly stocked. Hotel in general lacks atmosphere.
Thoroughly enjoyed the hotel for our short stay. We were upgraded to a suite - everything we could possibly need. Bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Would recommend this hotel to old and young. Beautiful building and surroundings. Maureen & John
I found the lidl break offer fantastic value, and have told many of my friends about it. The hotel is first class standard and there are facilities for all the family. All round an excellent place to stay.
Absoloutely class venue. It was more like an apartment than a hotel room including a separate lounge/kitchen. At the Lidl price it was therefore a steal! I broke a glass but wasn't charged for it and know of other guests who left stuff behind and had it posted to them after the wedding too. Great service.
my experience at hotel was wonderful.big airy clean room, excellent breakfast & friendly staff. the good thing was the price. the hotel was packed so what more can i say. people vote with their feet. well done for an excellent service. ailbhe portlaoise
We found the accomadation very good in the hotel with a large and spacious family room. I was very dissapponitment with the quality of the food and the service offered by the staff and restuarant manager. The hot breakfast on both mornings of our stay was cold and even food ordered from the kitchen was cold. When food ran out at the service area like juices and bread it took a while for it to be replenished. On monday evening we sat down at 7pm to have some bar food and after speaking to two members of staff to place an order our order was taken at 7.26pm. we then were served with our food at 8,15pm some 1hr and 15 mins after sitting down. I brought this to the attention of the female restaurant manager and she offered a pityful excuse saying that the kitchen was small and they were very busy. While I appreciate that the hotel was busy I found that this period of time to receive food very excessive. I found the atmosphere in the bar lacking in that the staff made no effort to interact with the customers. I found the above a pity as the hotel accomadtion was very good and this type of service lets it down.
stayed for 4 nights 24th July 2011 - hotel is super, so spacious and staff are very nice, really go out of their way to help you, especially Lorraine & Ciaran in the Bar. HIghly recommend getting a 2 bed suite, although the matress on the sofa bed in our room had seen better days and needed to be thrown out, other than that we had a very enjoyable stay, the food in Kudas was fabulous and breakfast was also good, plenty to choose from, although the charge of €5 for a kids brekkie was a bit OTT - ours barely ate a bowl of cereal each morning. this was our second tme to stay here - woudl love a hotel like this further down the coast in say Galway/Westport .
Very good value for the stay and very muched enjoyed it, stayed with my wife & 9 month old, but have to say very disappointed with the breakfast!!! As most hotels are now buffet breakfast this was possibly the worse I've ever had in a hotel. And I have stayed in quiet a few hotels down throught the years. At best the food was barely warm for the breakfast. Other than that very clean & friendly hotel with great lesiure facilities
exceliant wii go again
Brillant hotel, staff lovely very friendly and helpful. We stayed in the family room which was massive and very comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay again.
We had a great time on the Lidl breaks. Great value for money. Hotel was great. Staff were very friendly, food was good and the kids loved the pool. The only fault we had was we had to ask 3 times for an extra bed to be put into the room. I would love to go back again to the same hotel or go to another Clarion Hotel in another county. Christina
We stayed at the Clarion Sligo on Saturday 2nd July and it is definately worthy of its 4 stars! Well appointed rooms, very big. We had a suite with everything we could ask for in it and more.... A magnificent building and only a short stroll from centre of town. Whenever we go to Sligo again we will definately be staying in the Clarion. Bernie & Pat Wexford
Highly recommend to stay here. Staff are great, hotel is great, need I say more
hotel exterior is beautiful and grounds impressive on the drive up. Rooms are very big although some cushions quite frayed and shabby. Breakfast quite good and good variety. Pool/leisure area nice and staff very friendly. Spa quite expensive. Hotel staff pleasant enough.
excellent hotel and facilities in an ideal location - very helpful and courteous staff - will certainly visit again
very enjoyable stay in the hotel beautiful location hotel was excellent bedrooms where biggest i have ever been in food in restaurant excellent hotel was spotless only thing that was needed was more staff in restaurant in the mornings at breakfast time. will definetly be back for another stay
Rooms nice a mix up on checking in though had name wrong name on reservation, had to go print off copy of email to show we had booked a room. Restaurant was nice food not great, rooms very comfortable and spacious. In general staff very pleasant wouldn't be rushing back for food though. Nice location although a bit out of town taxi required.
The good: Lovely hotel, beautiful buildings, great facilities, brekkie great, dinner not bad - but you do get 3 courses & tea/coffee, fantastic value for money. The bad: Can be difficult to find, if going out in sligo need taxi into/out of town, and they cannot guarantee good weather ;o)
We really enjoyed our stay at the Clarion in Sligo, we were very impressed with the ambiance and the decor. The service was very friendly and efficient, the food was of a very high quality and was amazing value for money. The pool and jacuzzi were an added bonus. We will definitely return for a visit!
This was my first Lidl break and I would really recommend it! Great value for money, we arrived at the Clarion and were delighted to be greeted by Monika and a very friendly girl who got us all sorted out and booked for dinner that night, The bar was quite full as there was a function on but we never heard a thing from our room. Definately will be going again,
We are a family of 5. 2 Aduts 2 young children and a baby. We had a fabulous time at the Clarion Hote lin Sligo. We couldnt fault it. The room was big, comfortable and warm. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The kids had a fab time at the pool which was well run and clean. They also enjoyed the crazy golf. We eat in the bar both night and while the food wasn't excellent it was good and the bar catered well to families with young children. The lobby was really comfortable in the evenings and myself and my wife could sit there with the baby and have a drink whilst the other 2 children played with friend thay had met. We didnt feel in the way at any time with the children and the staff were very welcoming and tolerent towards them. ALl in all Id highly recommend it. I think Lidl breaks are a fantastic opportunity for people to get away on a break at a very reasonable price and to some very nice locations. We have used Lidl breaks 4 times now and will continue to do so as long as they continue to provide this excellent value for money deal.
the clarion in sligo is a beautiful hotel. the staff were very friendly. the food was lovely. the loss of a star is because we found the room very noisy, the room was ajoining to another and it sounded like they people were actually in the room with us. it lacked the peace and quiet we looked forward to.
What can i say ,a fablous hotel 100% on all counts we will be back thanks also to lidl Joe Murphy Galway
Overall the hotel was good. Breakfast was just ok... Not 4star by any means. One thing that was not good was that we had booked a Family room and were given a double room. We asked the receptionist why we had not been given a family room as booked and were told that what Lidl call a "family room" is infact a Double room!!!. We were staying with a 10 month old and a 2 and a half year old so this was not suitable. We were made to feel like second class citizens because we booked through Lidl! We eventually had to pay for %u20AC20 per night (%u20AC40 in total) to upgrade to the room we had booked in the first place!!! I would like some clarification as to if this is the case as we would not have booked the hotel if we wer not getting a family room. Other than the issue above it would have been good value if we had not had to fork out another %u20AC40 ...
We had a lovely stay, everything you'd expect in a hotel of this type, dinners slightly basic but as part of the lidl deal they represented good value for the price.
Nice place, clean, spacious enough, great pool and gym, friendly staff Only complaint I would have is the breakfast, which was buffet style: none of it was properly hot, baked beans more sauce than beans, the continental breakfast choice was pretty limited and had processed chesse! The tea and coffee was pretty awful too! But apart from food it was fine.
I had a lovely relaxing stay. The accommodation was excellent, very comfortable and quiet. The staff are very friendly and the food excellent. I regret not having had some of the spa treatments, as they were all booked out. However i will in the near future return with my family and look forward to enjoying the leisure centre and treatments. I have no hesitaion in recommending this hotel . Sandra Ballina
Hotel was Lovely , although directions on their website need to be updated as they were of no use and very misleading as we ended up going in the wrong directions Food in Hotel was quite poor Definetely value for money with Lidl and would recommed using the site again
what a fantastic hotel...would definitely recommend it to friends and family,,, well done lidl
WAS A REALLY BRILLIANT WEEKEND THE HOTEL IS FAB FROM FOOD LEISURE CENTRE, BAR ,STAFF .THE OMLY PROB I HAD WAS THE ROOM HAD A LARGE CAST IRON PIPE IN THE ROOM AT END OF THE SINGLE BED ROOM 2161 WHICH IS UNSAFE WITH CHILDREN,BEDS WERE LOVELY FOOD REAALY GOOD,HOTEL CLEAN AND STAFF VERY FRIENDLY.WE ARE ALREADY TALKING ABOUT GOING BACK AND WILL BE BOOKING AGAIN WITH LIDLAND HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED LIDL BREAKS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS GREAT VALUE AND NO HASSLE EVERYTHING SO STRAIGHT FORWARD, WOULD LOVE TO SEE YEE DO HOTELS ACROSS EUROPE ??? THANKS VERY MUCH LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING MANY LIDL BREAKS, REGARDS FIONA
Excellent hotel.Staff very helpful.Great facilities. Would definitelly stay again.
from the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and efficient. the hotel is beautifully situated only a short drive from either the town or beach. our room was very spacious, comfortable and well equipped (hairdryer. iron and tea /coffee making facilities etc)... the breakfast was delicious and the fact that the time was from 8 to 12 was great, no early rising required..i would definitely recommend this hotel and lidl to friends and family.
beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings.. . Room lovely, text tv , and all facilities top class.great breakfast. late check out at 12.00 a real bonus. Nite life in Sligo was really good- disco bar on the river very relaxing. 5/5 for me. no faults
We had a great weekend. Kids club was brilliant and hotel very child friendly. Could do with a extra dinners on the set dinner menu. Family room was huge and hotel was very clean. The pool was a little shabby compared to the rest.
Stayed at this htoel with out 4 year old in a family room which was very spacious. Carpet could do with a clean though and walls quite dirty, otherwise lovely with huge bathroom. Food in bar expensive and when we asked for kids menu were told "nuggets" and chips " I then asked for pasta with sauce for daughter but was told they had no sauce for the pasta! Food just okay, overpriced. Swimming pool excellent kids pool and main pool, didnt use sauna etc. Had treatment in spa which was lovely. Overall lovely hotel and would come back again.
Beautiful room, really large size with all facilities. Hotel measures up to expectations as per brochure. It's a beautiful building, well worth visiting and within walking distance of town. Staff are friendly. Leisure facilities are excellent. Food is good not excellent. Overall it's a great break and I'd highly recommend it. C.N.
friendly staff great breakfast swimming pool sauna good,, pleasant stay only one complaint wind howling through window,
Everything about the Clarion Hotel is first class. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The leisure centre and the pool sauna etc is fab. What can I say about the value. For 49 euro a day we had a fantastic room first class breakfast and a 2 course evening meal. I have been telling everyone who would listen to me about Lidl hotel breaks and the wonderful value that they are. The Clarion was our 3rd Lidl break this year and we intend to do one every month for the rest of the year. They have to the best value for money that there is anywhere. Loved this hotel and the value was superb. Very nice staff and lovely rooms. We had our toddler daughter with us and the hotel is very family friendly. Its a pity there is not a slide/toys in the baby pool though! Will def return/would recommend
Lovely hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. V G value for money. Disappointed that you really have to book spa facilities in advance - didn't know this - though receptionist did try to facilitate us but was unable to do so. Very pleased with visit
We had a fab time at the clarion, real lovely hotel, rooms was lovely, really big and spacious, meal was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful. Deal was well worth the money, excellent value, will defo go again.
Beautiful hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money from lidl breaks. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Garvan

Booked this hotel through LIDL breaks.Went on mid-term break with the kids..Have to say 4 days 3 nights 180 euro...What a bargain. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Staff were absolutely great and very helpful...Also kids club fantastic....Well done to the girls there...THANK YOU
My daughter and myself stayed at the Clarion Hotel recently for one night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was really lovely and the staff very friendly especially in the dining room. We thought it was extremely good value for money. Pity the weather was very wet. We would definitely go back again. Emma & Eileen.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, had light lunch in the bar from bar menu, food was lovely, breakfast buffet served till 12 noon which is a very nice gesture. Had dinner in the restaurant which was also lovely. Our room was nice and comfortable the only problem being it could do with a fresh coat of paint and perhaps shampoo the carpet. Would recommend the hotel.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, breakfast excellent. Only fault was our room was very far from reception and lack of atmosphere in the hotel at night in the bar. Overall very good value for money.
lovely hotel to stay in would stay there again no problem what so ever, nice place for a relaxing couple of nights away loved it thanks lidl
yeah really liked it would stay there again no bother
All was fine in the hotel, room was grand, hotel has a funny layout as the building was used previously for other purposes I'm sure, our room was quite a distance from reception even though there's only 74 rooms, just stayed one night, staff very friendly, ate in the bar from bar menu, food was lovely, breakfast buffet served til 11am which is so much preferable than in some hotels where 10am is the last serving, did not get to test the pool, gym etc., not sure how far it is to Sligo town as we didn't venture out of the hotel, great value at %u20AC49pp b+b, would I return?, yes without doubt!
Fabulous hotel. Brilliant stay. Excellent value.
I really enjjoyed my stay at the Clarion. The food was lovely. The only fault I would have found is that there wasn't much of an atmoshphere in the bar, no music not even background music. But overall the staff were friendly and the hotel is very nice.
My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at the Clarion in Sligo. The food was excellent and the Staff friendly and very helpful. My one gripe would be that the one night during our stay that there actually was music in the bar it was so loud that we had to go outside to hear ourselves and for the noise level to be bearable. We had the pamper break, with which we were very pleased and I consider excellent value for money! I will certainly take a Lidl-Break there again, when I have tried a few others. Good night girl!
Good value for money . Too many children around , would have liked entertainment in the bar for adults at night . Greater variety in a la carte menu for dinner would have been appreciated as would cheaper price for a cup of coffee ¬ to pay more than 2 euro nowadays is not on ! We would stay again during off peak times .
It does not deserve 4 star status. The food was awful- picked up two slices of blue moulded bread at breakfast. The showers in the leisure centre seriously stank. I lost my phone and the receptionist was very unhelpful. Saying that our room was lovely- but we had to take two lifts and walk a long corridor to get to it. Had a lovely massage on the last day which was amazing. the hotel is beautiful on the outside, and for the best past of our stay we really enjoyed the break. Avoid crazy golf- you have to play around the weeds! I would have been seriously disappointed if I had paid a full rate for this hotel
We'd a lovely time at the clarion hotel sligo, what a fab building from the outside, the room we were allocated was a family room great size and the bathroom was also a good size with bath and shower. The room needs re painting but i did see that they had a painter in on that floor and im sure its on the list ! It was also abit far from reception but all in all it was lovely and the food was excellent bar staff very friendly and child friendly with toys for the kids. We used the pool area and it was lovely also.
